Growth Buds
Apical Dominance: Controls growth from the terminal bud; vertical branches show strong apical dominance. 🌱
Removing Heavy Branches
Undercut: Prevents bark tearing. 🪓
Upper Cut: Follows the undercut. 🪓
Close Cut: Near the branch collar for optimal healing. 🌿
Pruning Timing
Most Plants: Prune in winter or spring. ❄️🌷
Flowering Shrubs: Prune after blooming. 🌸
Evergreens: Prune in spring. 🌲
Fruit Trees: Prune for better light and fruit production. 🍎
Roses
Pruning Time: Spring. 🌹
Cut Location: Just above an outward-facing bud on healthy wood. 🌿
Techniques
Thinning: Remove entire shoots. 🌿
