Citrus wasp galls - and more galls. While hedge trimming for a new customer in Ocean Reef who has recently purchased the house I noticed a very unhealthy citrus tree. As I got closer I could see why: years of untreated galls. Filled the red bin with galls - and will remove tree on future visit. Important to regularly check citrus and remove galls - for your trees sake plus neighbours.

This old dog learnt a new trick: refreshing a limestone path. Along with fresh pine bark and a few new plants, a regular Burns Beach customer wanted a fresh covering of crushed limestone on his path. With a borrowed tamper and mentoring from Karl of Soilsaintsoils Neerabup fame I did it:)

Time to freshen up your gardens? While not a lot of growth is happening in our gardens, it is a good time to make most of cool weather in Perth to do odd jobs. Regular Burns Beach customer had me do a light trim then top up pine bark mulch plus blue metal at the edge of pavement, which was a good workout as had to carry bucket loads from trailer around to the back. . Thanks to Soilsaintsoils Neerabup jobs completed to customer's satisfaction.

Still do it but be gentle:) With likely chilly weather ahead trimming hedges should be done with a light touch. This time of year I do light trim of customer hedges, including this one for regular Wanneroo customer, with a heavier trim in September.

Bigger is better - if you are planting into pots. Use quality potting mix (I recommend Eureka Black Gold), Troforte (citrus if appropriate), Seasol with wetter. For this Wanneroo customer purchased mature stock from Blooming Nursery and pots from Pots WA.

Take it a bit easier:) Arrived at a regular customer in Iluka to trim hedge - and it needed a good trim. However, advised customer I would be a bit gentler due to cold weather. Will wait until Spring for a heavier trim.

Lawn not growing in corner due to roots, lack of sun... Give up? Affordable option to consider: slabs. Regular customer Carramar I trim hedges several times a year got me to put slabs and stones where lawn doesn't grow well despite her best efforts. moved sprinkler head, picked up slabs, gravel, brickies sand from helpful team at Soilsaintsoils Neerabup. Customer very happy with work.

Backyard garden bed transformation for new customer in Burns Beach: thanks to Soilsaintsoils Neerabup for quality garden mix, Blooming Nursery for mature lemon, and Dawsons Joondalup (thanks Monica for advice) for shrubs and groundcover. Mixed Troforte slow release into garden mix and watered in with Seasol. Perfect time to plant with ongoing rain to help plants settle in.
