Tools down for a week! πŸ§³πŸ–ŒοΈ

I'm heading off for a well-earned recharge from Sunday 23 August, back on the brushes in September.

You're still very welcome to send through enquiries, photos of your space, and quote requests while I'm away β€” everything will be answered in order from Tuesday 1 September.

The site crew has approved the leave request (reluctantly). See you all in spring β€” with fresh energy and a ute full of paint. 🌸

The one-woman show. πŸ‘‹

Hi, I'm Lou β€” the lady painter. 15+ years on the brushes, trained in the UK, degree in interior design, fully insured, and not afraid of your roof (clearly).

I'm a solo operation, which means the person who quotes your job, preps your walls, chooses your colours and paints them… is the same person. Me. No subcontractors, no surprises, no shortcuts β€” my OCD genuinely won't allow them.

Perth's northern suburbs: Inglewood, Bayswater, Maylands and surrounds. If you've been putting off that painting job, say hello β€” quotes are free, and the dog photos on this page keep coming either way. 🐾

The cottage, reborn. 🏠

The before: window sills rotted through, paint flaking to the touch, leadlights hiding behind decades of weathering. The after: a weatherboard dream in soft grey ('Stepney') with crisp Lexicon trim.

The bit in between is where the real work lives β€” every sill stripped back to timber, rot cut out and repaired, primed properly, rebuilt coat by coat. Restoration first, paint second. That's why it lasts.

Exterior season is the best time to catch damage before it spreads. Free quotes β€” send me a photo of your worst window sill, I dare you.

"Finally β€” someone wanting colour!" 🍊

When this client chose a vivid mandarin for the hallway (Haymes 'Mexican Moonlight') with deep green doors ('Invigorate'), we both stood back after the first coat and wondered. I said: trust your vision. Second coat went on β€” and we both loved it.

My saying is simple: we can always paint over it. Nothing is permanent if you don't like it. That's the whole magic of paint.

(Little did she know this job would kick off her full obsession with colour…)

Thinking about a brave colour but scared to commit? That's literally what my colour consultations are for. Free quotes.

Meet my casual apprentice. 🐾

Daisy: Chief Morale Officer at I'm A Lady Painter. Duties include supervising from the doorway, taste-testing my lunch, and wearing the uniform better than I do.

Zero brush skills. Ten out of ten attitude. She stays on payroll.

Paint it black. πŸ–€

This 1930s door came to me faded, chipped, timber showing through. Hardware off, sanded back to a sound surface, primed, then deep gloss black laid off until it looked like glass β€” and suddenly that leadlight is jewellery.

You don't need a new door. You need the right hands on the one you've got.

Doors, trim and detail work β€” some of my favourite jobs. Free quotes, message me a photo.

The part of my job that never makes the after photo. 🧱

This started as "just a hairline crack". It wasn't. Behind it: crumbling plaster that came back to brick. Some painters would say "best get a plasterer in." Nope β€” I'm a woman of many talents and tools, so I can do most things myself. No extra trades, no extra cost, no hassle for my customers.

Stripped, repaired, skimmed, sanded, primed β€” THEN painted. Great paintwork isn't about the paint. It's about everything underneath it.

15+ years of doing it properly. Fully insured. Free quotes anytime.

🧑 Colour, done right β€” a full kitchen & living transformation.

Going bold takes a little courage, but look at the reward. This warm terracotta wraps right through the kitchen and living area, and against the sage-green cabinetry and timber benchtops it's turned an ordinary space into something with real warmth and personality. The kind of room you actually want to gather in.

This is where a good eye for colour earns its keep β€” knowing that a rich, confident shade like this needs a flawless, even finish across every wall to really sing. No patchy bits, no messy edges. Just bold colour, done properly.

Been dreaming about a bolder look but not sure where to start? That's my favourite kind of project. Send me a message or call 0409 906 539 for a free, no-obligation quote. 🧑

πŸ«’ Colour drenched β€” one room, top to bottom.

This is one of my favourite ways to transform a space: take a single beautiful shade and carry it right across the whole room. Walls, ceiling, trim, the door, even the lovely old brass door hardware β€” all in the same soft olive. No hard lines, no fuss, just a warm, calm, wrapped-up feeling the moment you walk in.

Against that gorgeous timber slat wall, it's turned an ordinary bedroom into somewhere you actually want to retreat to. πŸ’š

Colour drenching takes a good eye and a steady hand to get right β€” knowing where to stop, how to keep it seamless, and getting a flawless finish on all those different surfaces. That's the fun part for me.

Thinking about a refresh of your own? I'd love to help β€” send me a message or call 0409 906 539 for a free, no-obligation quote.
