If you want great coverage and a green lawn, one of the most important things you can do is put enough sprinklers in.
Actually, put in more than you need.
That way, even if one sprinkler gets blocked or stops working properly, the area will still receive good coverage. More importantly, you achieve proper head-to-head coverage, where each sprinkler throws all the way across to the next one.
One of the biggest problems we see with irrigation systems is people skimping on pop-ups — not putting enough in, not positioning them correctly and not setting them at the right height.
There’s nothing better than firing up a new irrigation system, hearing the sound and hiss of the pop-ups and seeing the water actually covering the lawn properly.
When we install a new irrigation system, we position the sprinklers just off the edge of the lawn and slightly below the finished lawn level, so a lawn edger is less likely to hit them while still allowing the sprinkler to provide full coverage.
On this particular job, we used Rain Bird SRM pop-ups, a quality unit mounted on articulated risers for flexibility, along with R-VAN rotating heads to achieve the coverage we’re after.
At the end of the day, we’ve got 20 years’ experience in this game. There are plenty of new businesses out there that claim to know reticulation, but put that system through its first Perth summer and you’ll quickly see whether it was designed and installed properly.
