๐Ÿงฑ UP & DOWN TUESDAYโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒง๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Bit of an up and down one today.

We were debating whether to even start this morning. It was raining, everything was soaking wet and apparently there was plenty more rain on the horizon. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Anywayโ€ฆ we decided to give it a go.

Wet, humid, bit of sunshine, even a rainbow thrown in there ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒˆโ€ฆ but somehow we managed to get the day in.

Only downside was we ran out of face blocks, so we couldnโ€™t quite get this one finished. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿงฑ

Probably back here Thursday to get it over the line.

Back down to Subiaco tomorrow. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Definitely one of those days where you just take what you can get. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿงฑ NEW MUDBOARD STANDSโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Made these up over the weekend ready for when weโ€™re working off the scaffold. ๐Ÿงฑ

Simple. Solid. Perfect height.

Should make life a little easier up there. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Œ

What do you reckonโ€ฆ will they work or will they fall? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘‡

Will test them onsite soon. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿงฑ

๐Ÿงฑ OLD DEWALT TOOLSโ€ฆ BACK FROM THE DEAD ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”‹

Picked this little thing up online.

Basically it converts your old DeWalt tools so you can run them off the newer batteries. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Adaptor clips into the old battery slot, new battery slides straight onto itโ€ฆ and apparently thatโ€™s it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I reckon there must be thousands of these old DeWalt tools sitting in sheds because the batteries have had it.

If this actually works properly, itโ€™s a pretty cheap way of bringing them back to life. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Œ

Anyone else tried one of these? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿฆ WANT A FLAKE IN THAT? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Nothing to see hereโ€ฆ just a wheelbarrow full of vanilla soft serve. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ˜‚

That white mortar was looking a bit too creamy. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚

Good mix, mate. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyone want a Flake in that? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ๐Ÿงฑ

๐Ÿงฑ WORKING FROM AN OFFSETโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Always work from the boundary.

This oneโ€™s pretty straightforward. The offset pin is 130mm from the boundary, and the set-out plan shows our blockwork needs to be 50mm off the boundary.

So itโ€™s simply:

130mm โˆ’ 50mm = 80mm.

Put the tape on 80mm at the offset pin, mark it, and that gives you the line you need to follow for the set-out. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Nothing complicated โ€” just make sure you know exactly what your offset is before you start. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ

I wonder how many people just flick off the scour marks on the slab. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘‡.

๐Ÿงฑ SIMPLE PIER SET-OUT. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Setting out a pier and I needed to transfer the line onto the footing.

2m level lined up where the pier needs to run, a few bricks to hold it solid so it doesnโ€™t move, then simply mark the line onto the footing. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Itโ€™s surprising how much this Stabila 2m level actually gets used. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ

Would you trust this method? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿงฑ PROBABLY THE MOST USED PROFILE CLAMP ONSITEโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘Œ

This has gotta be one of the most common profile clamps youโ€™ll see brickies using. Simple, quick and does the job. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

This oneโ€™s made to clamp onto a standard brick, but when youโ€™re using it somewhere it doesnโ€™t quite fit, no dramas.

Little bit of timber to fill the void, tighten her up and away you go. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Sometimes you donโ€™t need another clampโ€ฆ you just need a bit of timber. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿงฑ GOT YOU A PRESENT MATEโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ

Popped over to Sydney Tools just before smoko and grabbed a couple of new Bahco rakes. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Walked back onto site and told Ryder Iโ€™d got him a present. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I think he seemed pretty happy with it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And perfect timing tooโ€ฆ because the new rake went straight to work. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ

Anybody else used these Bahco rakes? They seem pretty sturdyโ€ฆ letโ€™s see how long they last on our jobs. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿงฑ DOWNPIPES MILES OUT OF PLUMBโ€ฆ NO PROBLEM ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Œ

We could basically get the first course in around these downpipesโ€ฆ then we had a problem. ๐Ÿ˜‚

They were that far out of plumb there was no chance we were getting the blockwork around them properly.

Soโ€ฆ bit of plastic pipe tied around the downpipes, into a clamp, then slowly pulled the whole lot over until they were plumb. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜‚

Now we can actually get the blocks around them and carry on.

Nothing fancy. Just another little onsite fix to keep the job moving. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿงฑ๐Ÿ‘

Sometimes youโ€™ve just gotta make something work. ๐Ÿ˜‚
