The seasons are changing, and spring is in the air!
Along with the blossoming of flowers and the longer days, this is the time of the year that spiders start showing up around our homes.
While spiders have their place in the eco-system, keeping them away from your home (and your family and friends) is advisable.
Spiders travel on the wind. They create small parachute-like webs, fly them in the wind and this blows them into properties and they land on our homes. From there, they breed and grow.
Places that spiders like to hang out are along your property fencing, around swimming pool fencing, inside of doorways of sheds/garages, and around verandas. External lighting attracts flying insects which also attract spiders so you’ll often notice spiders around external lights, windows and doorways.
When I treat a property for spiders I will generally treat the roof void as this is often a breeding ground for spiders and lots of other insects. I will also do an external treatment of walls, eaves, around doors/windows, verandas, fence lines, pool fencing, garage and carport as well as the clothesline, the letterbox, the wheelie bins, and any other area I see which might be hiding them!
Once a spider treatment has been done, people should leave the webs on for up to 14 days before brushing off. This gives ample time for the spiders to come in contact with the treatment and get a high success rate.
If you externally wash your property it would be advisable to do this in early spring prior to the spiders coming so that when the treatment is carried out you’ve already done your preparation.
A spider treatment generally needs to be done every 12 months and spring is the best time of the year as the treatment lasts the longest under protected areas such as verandas, carports and garages. Our spider treatment also comes with a three-month warranty, so call me today on 0403 176 148 to book yours in!
