Sunscreen / Stabiliser / Cyanuric Acid: Why your pool needs it.
Summer is almost here and now is the time to add Cyanuric Acid to your outdoor pools. (Also called Sunscreen / Stabiliser).
Chlorine in your pool breaks down rapidly in UV light evaporating away. Combine this with water loss and topping up with fresh water & you can lose up to half your chlorine in 20 minutes on a hot day.
By Adding Sunscreen in the right amounts, it slows down this process by a factor of 3 - 5. In Chlorine pools, sunscreen levels should be 30 - 50 and salt pools 50 to 80. In turn, this means you are having to add or make less chlorine - saving time, money and wear on your system.

With record heavy rains in Perth recently (and more to come) the chemicals in the pool's water get diluted. You've probably drained some water out already this Winter. pH levels rise and salt levels in particular get low this time of year. Without adequate salt, your chlorinator can't manufacture Chlorine.

The weather is finally changing and many people will be shutting down their pools for Winter. If you haven't already, now is the time to reduce the chlorine output level (Winter Mode, if you have that function), the runtime on your chlorinator and add a "Winteriser" Algaecide.

With the aid of an algaecide, you can half the hours on your chlorinator saving you power and wear and tear on the equipment. One treatment last 3 months.
