Let’s play spot the difference.
Believe it or not, you are looking at the same house.
This single-storey house was bought by a couple in 2011 during the mining boom for 650k. In 2020 they made the move to Melbourne and had to sell their home. For this couple they would need to give the house a bit of a facelift before going to market if they were to make their money back.
After closely discussing and brainstorming the potentials and design options within the constraints, the couple decided to renovate the front and rear façade as well as upgrades to the front courtyard.
The design aimed to keep the spirit of the house through the choice of materials and by choosing minimal intervention. The metallic columns of the front veranda were cladded with solid timber tiles, as well as its decking and front planters.
Selling a house can make you profit when you invest in how it will be perceived by potential buyers because first impression actually matter and people do judge a book by its cover. Or a home by it’s front door in this case!
Keeping this in mind, the design aimed to create a welcoming and homely atmosphere. With a few simple changes the house was sold in less than a month.
If you are looking to sell your house, have you looked at it as an outsider?
