It all starts from the driveway!

When painting drive ways we can NOT stress enough how important it is to thoroughly clean the surface, with a high pressure washer, get rid of all oil or moss that has built up over time.

Then you take the appropriate steps in painting the driveway.

Don't do this when painting your driveway.

People think painting driveways when its sunny will help it dry quicker. But if the concrete is to hot it can cause bubbling of the paint. This morning we started this job at 6am before the harsh sun was out.

If you can paint early morning or in shade you will get best results when it's going to be a hot day.

Driveway colour seal prep underway 🎨

Before any sealer goes down, the repairs need to be sorted properly.

For the larger cracks where there is still some movement, we’re using a flexible Sikaflex concrete sealant rather than a rigid repair product. This allows the repair to accommodate some movement instead of simply cracking straight through again.

For the smaller chips, damage and imperfections, we’re using an Avista Concrete Repair Kit to rebuild and blend the damaged areas.

Because Sikaflex finishes much smoother than the surrounding concrete, we also broadcast some of the concrete repair powder over the wet sealant to help recreate the texture of the existing driveway.

Once all repairs have cured and the surface is ready, we’ll move onto the first coat of Avista concrete sealer.

Good coatings start with good preparation. 👌
