It is the brainchild of Tory Puglisi, a graduate architect (with first class honours) and experienced building designer. One of the ideas underpinning CCBD is that through considered design of the built environment, a whole range of better lifestyle outcomes can be achieved, be they family, business productivity, environmental quality, entertainment, or any other aspect of living and interacting t
hat requires a constructed solution. The scope of this idea applies as much to the individual or family as it does to the broader community. CCBD also seeks to debunk the myth that you need to go to Launceston, Hobart, or the mainland to find a good designer. Tory has worked in architecture, drafting and building design around south east Australia for nearly twenty years. After qualifying for his architectural drafting associate diploma with distinction in Sydney, Tory worked for a couple of architects in southern NSW, where, after a few years, he thought he could do better designs than his architect boss. So he went to university, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Achitecture, with Merit from the University of Newcastle. Tory worked for architectural firms in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne before discovering the delights of north west Tasmania, where he has lived and worked since the turn of the millenium. Since settling on the north west coast, Tory has worked for a number of firms on a range of diverse projects from houses and sheds, to landmark civic projects such as “The Point” at West Park, Burnie, and the yet to be constructed Phoenix Palms apartments at the old hospital site in Ulverstone. Tory was was the key designer on both these projects. Tory also recently completed his architectural studies at the University of Tasmania, graduating with a Master of Architecture with First Class Honours. He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Architects, and is a registered building designer. better living through better design
