My work is inspired by rugged landscapes, natural and modest materials, sculpted building forms, and the creation of individual spaces that feel considered, expressive and personal. Definition of Design:
Form & Space
↘ Did you know the elements that make up the definition of design? there is form, then there is space.

Within the classical elements of art and design, form describes volume, mass and three-dimensional presence. Space describes the field in which form exists. Within it, around it, between it and beyond it. Neither can be understood entirely without the other. These are fundamental conditions of perception. Space gives form context.

Together, they influence proportion, scale, movement, light, balance, enclosure and the way the human body experiences its surroundings. Almost every act of design can ultimately be traced back to this relationship: the placement of something, and the space created because of it. Formspace is the intersection of these two elemental ideas. The physical and the intangible, presence and absence, object and void. It is, in its simplest sense, the foundation from which design begins.

🐎 Top Camp, Toowoomba... A contemporary take on acreage living.

Long, low rooflines, textured stone and dark cladding give this home a strong presence against the rolling landscape. Curved walls soften the arrival, while breeze blocks and palms bring a subtle resort feel to the rural setting.

For me, the interest is in that balance—bold forms, natural textures and a home with its own character.

Considering a custom home? I’d love to hear about your site and what you have in mind.

Residential Acreage Design Stockleigh🌾🧱🪵🏡

A contemporary country home shaped by the character of traditional European and rural farmhouse design, reinterpreted for acreage living in Stockleigh, Queensland.

Generous gabled roof forms, pale textured brickwork, dark standing-seam style roofing, dark framed windows and natural timber details. Rather than reproducing a traditional farmhouse, the design takes familiar elements of traditional farmhouse design and gives them a cleaner, more refined expression.

The result is a home with a sense of permanence and warmth. The long, grounded form stretches naturally across the acreage, while the steeper gables, arched feature window and dramatic glazed central volume give the elevation hierarchy and moments of personality.

Inside, that same idea continues through cathedral ceilings, expansive grid-style glazing and exposed structural elements, creating large spaces that still feel warm and connected to the landscape. The original brief placed particular emphasis on the kitchen and living areas having cathedral ceilings and highly glazed gable ends, elements that became fundamental to the character of the home.

Designed for the adventurer, reflecting the spirit of country living. 🇦🇺🦘

This Barndominium concept was developed as a celebration of the Australian landscape, a retreat residence that feels equally at home on a working property, tucked into rolling hinterland, or sitting quietly against the vastness of the outback. 🌾

The design draws on the honesty and strength of traditional rural buildings, reinterpreted through a more refined contemporary lens. Nail-strip metal cladding wraps the bold barn form, while oversized timber barn entry doors, stone detailing and exposed curved timber feature trusses bring warmth, texture and craftsmanship to the facade.

Those sweeping timber arches over the entry and side verandahs soften the strong geometry A-frame entry of the building, giving the home its own identity while still feeling unmistakably Australian.

Inside, the concept is about living a little differently, generous open spaces, room for the toys, the 4WD, the workshop and the mancave, while still creating a home that feels warm, considered and connected to the land.

It’s designed for dusty boots at the door, long drives home through the country, late afternoons under the verandah and weekends away that slowly become a way of life. 🌅

A modern Australian barn shaped around adventure, freedom and a genuine love of the landscape. 🦘🌾

🔭🌌 A unique share/project… have you ever seen a custom space observatory on a home before? One of my largest commissions is due to commence construction in the first quarter of 2027, positioned on one of inner Brisbane’s rarest sites, perched high on an escarpment with sweeping uninterrupted views back toward the Brisbane C*D.
This home has been years in the making. After an extensive journey through town planning, negotiations, bushfire requirements and the many challenges that come with designing on such an extraordinary site, to preserve the thick established gumtrees and minimise disturbance to local wildlife.
From the beginning, the intention was never to fight the land/birds/trees. The existing building pad provided an opportunity to keep much of the home slab-on-ground, minimising unnecessary excavation, tree removal, retaining and major site works while allowing the design to stretch horizontally across the escarpment and make the most of the incredible outlook, as the lap pool drops to the natural ground at water edge.
At the centre of the design is a rooftop astronomical observatory, positioned to take advantage of the elevated location and expansive northeastern night sky, particular to the client’s requirements. The home also features a w**e cellar, wellness zone with cold plunge, sauna + steam room, expansive raised living and entertaining spaces, 25m lap pool + spa, alfresco areas, and long framed views toward the Brisbane skyline and beyond on the northeastern tip.
For me, what I enjoyed about this project is that despite its scale, it never needed to become excessive simply for the sake of being impressive. Preserving the natural beauty of the site, the trees etc came from responding properly to the site, planning conditions, understanding where to spend the budget, mindful of the construction methodology where possible and allowing the location itself to become one of the strongest features of the home.
A unique and cool outcome, from my perspective

🦩 One of my favourite single-level residential designs I’ve been fortunate enough to work on to date.... a canal-front knockdown rebuild in Burleigh Waters with a strong Mediterranean influence, drawing on earthy Moroccan tones, textured sponge-finish render, curved forms and layered subtropical planting. The arched entry and breeze-block screening give the frontage a bit of theatre, without it feeling too polished or overdone, revealing itself into an internal courtyard rather than a traditional enclosed foyer.

The landscaping carries the character from front to back and out toward the canal, with cactus, succulents, stone and low ground cover keeping it relaxed and suited to the Gold Coast setting. Rose-gold window frames add a softer detail against the deeper earthy finish and naturally, the flamingo had to make an appearance.

Hope Island Spec Home starting construction soon 🌴🍷

Designed for builder developer , this new Hope Island spec home includes an underground w**e cellar and a pretty unique design direction for the area.

The design takes inspiration from the refined alpine homes of Queenstown, combining natural stone, warm timber detailing and strong pitched roof forms to create something contemporary but still grounded and timeless.

I’ve kept the material palette fairly restrained and let the gable and timber cladding do the work — particularly the contrast between the heavy stonework, finer vertical timber detailing and the large gable sitting above with exposed outriggers and rafter tails.

↘ Commercial Industrial Townsville

Located in 🌴 Townsville, this industrial commercial development combines high-clearance workshop spaces with modern offices and administration areas. The building was designed around the practical needs of each tenancy, providing large industrial roller-door access, clear vehicle movement, dedicated entries and convenient onsite parking.

The exterior introduces a more refined identity than a typical industrial workshop, using strong cantilevered awnings, dark aluminium screening, natural stonework and a clean contemporary material palette. These elements create a professional street presence while providing shade and responding to Townsville’s hot tropical climate.

Overall, the development balances the durability and functionality required of a working industrial facility with comfortable, well-presented office spaces for staff, clients and visitors.

♿︎ NDIS High Physical Support Specialist Disability Accommodation in Yamba NSW, with a seaside Mediterranean soul. Originally designed as part of a three-way joint venture, I wanted to design a home that a participant, support worker and investor could feel an immediate connection to, and feel proud to call their own.

The earthy finishes, subtle curved walls, planting and deep shadows give it a grounding, almost retreat-like feeling. The bird mural brings a sense of freedom, and a little expression to the home. It then reveals the flow on to an internal courtyard where a participant can enjoy the sunshine with their dog, watching the garden change, or welcoming friends over, opposed to a rear facing or side bounding alfresco. Those everyday experiences are what I’m mindful of when evolving disability design.

There’s practical thinking behind the appearance, too. The overall building form is relatively simple, with the character expressed from carefully placed curves, considered materials and a few deliberate details. Creating something special doesn’t always require a complicated build, it requires thought about where the effort will make the greatest difference.

For a participant who spends much of their day at home, their surroundings matter enormously. Alongside accessibility and support, I want to offer beauty, interest and a sense of belonging. That consideration for how a home feels should be an everyday expectation in disability housing outcomes.

↘ NDIS Specialist Disability Accommodation Respite/Aged Care Office Southport

This Southport knockdown rebuild has been designed as a contemporary NDIS respite and aged care development with an integrated office component, bringing supported accommodation, care services and day-to-day administration together within one purpose-built setting. The intent is to create a place that feels far removed from an institutional facility & instead offering participants and residents a calm, welcoming and dignified environment that supports independence, accessibility and quality of life.

The building incorporates accessible resident and respite spaces, generous circulation, step-free entry and carefully considered connections between indoor and outdoor areas, while the dedicated office provides a professional base for support staff, carers, administration and coordination of services. The upper level screening introduces privacy and shade while maintaining natural light, with stone, soft neutral finishes and landscaped subtropical planting helping the development sit comfortably within its Southport setting. Overall, the project balances the practical requirements of specialist care with a strong residential character, creating a supportive environment for residents, families and staff alike.

🏢🚀 SOUTHPORT | NDIS HPS APARTMENTS DESIGN

As ever, motivated in the disability design field, here is a look at a proposed High Physical Support SDA apartment design in Southport, Gold Coast, with a strong focus on making accessible outcomes feel like quality residential design first.
Curved forms, warm timber screening, deep balconies, textured brickwork and plenty of greenery help soften the building and give it a more high-end residential feel, intentionally.
Being participant-led from the outset means each floor plate is thought through more carefully, with every detail considered in greater detail around how it will actually be used.
