This Saturday emergency was caused by a burst Iplex pipe concealed inside a cavity wall.

Over many years, Iplex pipework that hasn’t been properly clipped and secured can move and rub against the surrounding brickwork. That constant movement and friction can eventually wear the pipe down, causing it to split often when you least expect it.

With our equipment we located the damaged section inside the cavity wall, removed 2 bricks, bypassed the faulty iplex pipe inside the wall by running a new external copper pipe and reconnecting inside the roof. ✅️

💡 The takeaway: Properly securing pipework is important. Pipes running through wall cavities shouldn’t be left free to move and rub against brick over time, that is why we always clip pipework or chase into walls.

🚨 NEVER IGNORE THE SMELL OF GAS!🚨

A customer reported a gas smell, so we attended to investigate. We located the leak however it was on the gas company’s side of the installation.

If you ever smell gas in or around your property, **don’t ignore it**. Shut off your main valve at the gas meter and contact your local gas plumber.

A gas smell could indicate a serious hazard — **when in doubt, get it checked out.** 🔥⚠️

A cracked basin — more common than you think 😔

What usually causes it?
• Dropping a perfume bottle
• Dropping a heavy object into the sink

What looks small… isn’t.
A hairline crack can lead to:
• Water leaking beneath the basin
• Swollen cabinets
• Damaged walls
• Lifting or ruined flooring

The visible crack is often just the beginning.

What we did in this case:
• Located the exact replacement undermount sink before removal
• Carefully removed the damaged basin without disturbing the stone
• Installed and secured the new basin beneath the stone
• Sealed around the inner lip of the bowl
• Reconnected pipework
• Fully tested for leaks

Problem resolved properly — not just patched.
