Meet Nick Duncan, Site Manager at .

Nick brings a sharp eye for detail and a hands-on approach to every project he manages. Qualified in carpentry and a licensed builder, he's built his career on the belief that quality workmanship and good systems are what separate a great build from an average one - something that sits very comfortably with how operates.

When asked what makes Fortem different, Nick's answer was straightforward: the systems in place ensure every project is completed to a high standard. That kind of consistency matters, especially on the complex, high-end renovations the Fortem team takes on.

Away from site, Nick is a devoted husband and father of two, loves getting social with friends, and is passionate about food - if he wasn't managing builds, he'd most likely be in a kitchen. His biggest inspiration is his father, a 40-year industry veteran, who instilled in him a genuine love for the craft, and a particular appreciation for a well-restored heritage home.

Welcome to the Fortem team, Nick. We're glad to have you.

is at the final stage of the build.

This is the stage that demands as much discipline as any other. The timber staircase, the marble bathrooms, the joinery throughout, the restored Victorian facade - every surface and every junction has to perform at the level the rest of the build set. There's no room for shortcuts at the finish line.

What makes pre-handover run smoothly isn't what happens at the end. It's the sequencing and planning that happened months before - trades coordinated in the right order, materials procured and on site when needed, decisions made early so nothing is left to resolve under pressure.

The same care that went into the foundations goes into the finishing.

The arches at are one of the project's defining features. What made them possible was the work that happened long before the plaster went on.

The design introduces a series of arched thresholds that reference the language of the original Victorian home - connecting old and new without forcing the two eras apart.

Delivering them required buildability to be resolved early. The geometry of each arch, the transition between materials, and the integration with structural elements were all carefully considered before construction began.

Curved forms demand precision. Every radius framed accurately, every substrate prepared carefully, every finish applied with discipline. There's no shortcut to getting this right - and it shows in the result.

Step inside .

After months of careful construction, this is the moment the vision becomes reality.

A period home in Windsor transformed into something entirely its own: bold colour, four metre ceilings, bespoke stone, feature lighting and a rooftop that draws the sky deep into the home.

This is what genuine collaboration between architect and builder produces. Melanie Beynon Architecture & Design brought the vision. brought the construction expertise to make it real - sequencing every stage, coordinating every trade, and delivering every detail to the standard the design deserved.

We're proud of this one. Come and take a look.

Pre-handover at , and the detail work is everything.

The team are on site installing the final finishes - fixtures being set, soft landscaping going in, cleaners moving through room by room. Together with any minor defects are being documented in preparation for resolving.

Every last detail is checked before this period home renovation is handed over to our clients.

The same care that goes into the foundations goes into the finishing. That's how builds: from the first day on site to the last.

A bold contemporary transformation. And a build that had to perform at every level.

is one of those projects that stops people mid-scroll: bold colour, expressive interiors, a heritage Victorian home transformed from the ground up. But behind the palette was a construction challenge that demanded precision at every stage.

Navigating shared site access, restoring Victorian foundations, delivering a complex contemporary addition behind a retained heritage structure - every stage required careful planning, precise ex*****on and close collaboration with Melanie Beynon Architecture & Design.

We've broken down exactly how it came together in our latest blog. Read now via https://www.fortemprojects.com/behind-the-build-lewisham/

Bold spaces don't build themselves.

The project is a study in contrast: rich colour, layered art, and materials that demand precision to execute well. Behind every carefully placed surface is a construction process that had to be exactly right.

Marble. Joinery. Heritage bones. Modern ambition. Getting these elements to sit comfortably together is the work - and it's where ' experience shows.

A doorframe like this isn't just a design choice - it's a construction challenge. The joinery, the transitions, the way colour moves from one space to the next. Every junction has to be executed cleanly for the result to feel considered rather than chaotic.

At , that precision runs through the entire build.

Behind every well-built home is a team that knows exactly what they're doing, and when.

The work you see on site is only part of the picture. What drives it is sequencing. Careful planning. A program that keeps every trade, every decision and every detail moving in the right order, at the right time.

That discipline is what separates a smooth build from a stressful one. And it's what allows the craftsmanship to show up consistently, from the first day on site to the last.

This is the team. Hands-on, structured and accountable. On every project we take on.

Your project deserves this level of thinking from day one - start the conversation via https://www.fortemprojects.com/contact/

There's a particular kind of patience required when working on heritage homes.

Removing old paint by hand isn't the fastest approach, but it's the right one. It protects the integrity of the original surfaces, preserves the character beneath, and sets the foundation for everything that follows.

This is the detail work that rarely gets seen. But it's exactly where quality is built.

At , heritage renovation is a specialism, not a sideline. If you have a period home that deserves this level of care, we'd love to hear about it.
