A few local builders I’ve come across are testing their homes and easily achieving under 5ach which means the standard NCC compliant building techniques are placing their homes at 98% risk of mould issues in the future. Ask me how YOU can avoid this with your home?

High Performance Home Paddington handed over - only landscaping to go.
This building started as the leakiest home on the planet and is now a combination of high performance renovation, and Low Energy Building additions. Not being certified but the rear addition has satisfied all of the metrics of PassivHaus Low Energy Building and the original pre-1900 timber workers shack isn't far behind.
It's fairly cold in Brisbane this week, but this home has remained comfortable with zero heating. Well done Team.

PassivHaus Mt Crosby taking shape also. not being certified but so far has met every metric for a full PassivHaus Plus home. extremely energy efficient, and world class indoor air quality and comfort.

We designed this house to follow the steep block while maintaining excellent access and flow to the level back yard and future pool area.

PassivHaus Low Energy Building Paddington almost complete. Passed Blower door at 1.0 air changes which is extremely tight, and extremely energy efficient. More photos to come shortly.

The original house is a pre 1900 workers cottage that had reached end of functional life. Refurbished to a very high performance and a pavilion addition that meets the PHI Low Energy Building standard means this house will be extremely comfortable, sound proof, and have the highest indoor air quality possible.

Certified PassivHaus Enoggera taking shape. passed blower door test at 0.4 air changes (0.6 ach benchmark) so well on track for full certification later this year.

This is a fairly standard 4 bedroom home on a small lot in Brisbane, except that the building will be built to an extremely high level of energy efficiency and world class indoor air quality and comfort.

One of my PassivHaus clients pointed me to "The Godfather of Building Science" north American Joseph Lsitburek. Everything he talks about here is exactly what the PassivHaus system does.

As Australian buildings get more airtight, and insulation gets better and better, we are actually making our houses far less healthy. We are trapping condensation and humidity which leads to Mould and toxins. We are making all of the same mistakes that the rest of the world has already learned from?

Not everybody needs or wants a fully certified PassivHaus but we do need to learn why a standard 7 star home built to the current standards is leading us towards unhealthy homes.
