Kalamunda Garden Festival on next Sunday on Father’s Day. Treat Dad to a day out at the festival and while your there do him a favour to help his garden and buy him some Wool Pellets. While your buying his you may as well buy some for yourself. Come and ask me any questions you like and I’ll try and answer. We will have sample plants in potting mix, potting mix with wool added, sand and sand with wool added. Come and see the difference wool makes. See you there.

I delivered a talk to the Herb Society of WA on Monday night and I asked the question “ has anybody heard of using wool as a natural fertiliser or soil amendment “ one lady had heard my talk on Curtain radio which had prompted them to contact me. Nobody else had heard anything about wool as a fertiliser so using wool as a fertiliser is still a long way off being recognised in the gardening community. If you need to try them for yourself contact me and we will work out how to get them to you.

Microplastics and nanoplastics are starting to play a part in our gardens. Nanoplastics can enter the root zone of plants and most will stay there but some can get through to the leaves and fruit. Airborne nanoplastics can settle on leaves and become part of the plant as well. It is still being studied but better to be safe by using Wool Pellets, no plastic and no chemicals. Gove me a message to discuss or visit at the Kalamunda Garden Festival 6th September.

Has anyone out there have some wool they would like to dispose of. Happy to negotiate price depending on type of wool, amount of wool and where it is located. Self shedding wool is not suitable.

My new machine is on its way just have to be patient waiting for it to arrive.

Well I must admit I am pretty excited, just ordered a new machine to make wool pellets but the difference is the new machine will come with all the modifications required to make it more efficient. It takes a lot of experimenting to work out the best way to set the machine up.

I often get asked at gardening shows whether the water resistant properties of lanolin affect the water retention of the wool pellets. The lanolin does not affect the water retention and when the pellets are in the soil the microbial activity feeds on the lanolin breaking it down. The lanolin does not affect the nitrogen content or the nutrients found in wool pellets. Hope this clears up a few questions.

Hi everyone the photo is an update of the beetroot seeds I planted back on 23/3. As you can see one of the plants has hardly grown while the other is way ahead and forming the beet root. I deliberately did not split the seedling from the seeds when sprouted so there are two seedlings together in each clump. The only difference is the wool pellets added at 25 grams in the pot that is looking good.
