Project Completion | Roof Remedial Works, Rocklea QLD

The Queensland delivery team recently completed the remediation of an existing industrial facility in Rocklea, Queensland.

The works included:
• Full replacement of the roof structure and supporting steelwork.
• Temporary works and propping to maintain stability of remaining building elements.
• Full replacement of glulam portal frames.
• Upgrading access systems.
• Major civil remediation with screw piles being tied back to existing footings to stabilise the structure.

The team navigated several challenges, including structural discrepancies identified through as-built surveys and coordination issues between piling and panel clearances, requiring design adjustments.

Well done to the team – Mick Davis, Lucas McHenry, Wayne Reeve &Christian de Paoli.

Project Completion | Storage King, Wollongong NSW

We’ve officially handed over the brand new Storage King Australia facility in Wollongong, designed and constructed by Total Construction for Abacus Group.

The project involved the demolition of an existing one-storey warehouse, making way for the construction of a new 4-storey self storage facility.

The project faced challenging ground conditions including existing in-ground structures, which required the team to set up isolation zones, cut the structures out and re-stabilise the ground.

Total Construction worked collaboratively with Kingspan on the façade, innovatively designing the rainspan backing panel to sit on top of the slab rather than suspended off the edge. This allowed the team to get started on façade works before scaffolding was dismantled, expediating the programme.

Well done to the project team – Anthony Chidiac, Harry Hunt, Gareth Goronwy, Jonathan Barnes, Warren Knapp.

Total Construction recently held our annual Safety Summit for 2026 – bringing together our leaders and safety team to review our safety performance, systems and culture.

The Summit is a valuable opportunity to further strengthen our commitment to safety across all our projects, making Total Construction an even safer place to work.

The team visited current NSW sites, including dnata WSI, Kennards Self Storage Wentworthville and Angel Storage Lidcombe, to see our safety performance in practice, share ideas for improvement, and learn from different operational environments.

The Summit stimulated an honest and constructive collaboration regarding our safety culture – what’s shaping it, how attitudes can influence performance, and how we can continue to strengthen our culture of safety.

Events like these reflect our commitment to fostering safer environments for our teams, subcontractors, clients and visitors – so that we are consistently meeting our goal of 0 Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) and 0 Medically Treated Injuries (MTIs) on all our sites and delivering excellence in construction.
