Do you have any pests such as rats, termites or possums that you think may have caused damage to the integrity of the electrical systems in your property? These pictures were from a client's house, caused by termites building nests over the cable which has slowly degraded the integrity of the cable down to the bare copper, which in turn made the wall live causing shocks to the owners due to the moisture throughout the nests.

Are your smoke alarms up to the relevant fire safety standards and Queensland regulations AS 3786-2014? Smoke alarms are in provision as an early detection system to help save lives from fire.

It is mandated that smoke alarms be of the photoelectric type, interconnected, and installed on each level of the home, in connecting hallways, and in each bedroom of the dwelling. They must also be less than 10 years old, be hardwired or powered by a non-removeable 10 year battery, and operate in the correct manner when tested.

New Regulations from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services require that;
As of 1 January 2017 all new and renovated homes must have interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms installed in accordance with the National Construction Code.
By 1 January 2022 these requirements apply to landlords who are leasing and selling. By 1 January 2027 these requirements will apply to all homes in Queensland.

It is required by law that smoke alarms are tested every 12 months, and cleaned regularly to remove any debris that could make the alarm go off inadvertently or alter the performance.
