Under Construction 🦺 🔨

Construction on stage one of Dental South’s expansion is officially underway. In just a few weeks, the underlying technical complexity will be concealed, making way for beautifully calm, light-filled spaces designed to reshape the patient experience.

Dr Jess Manuela and her team deeply understand the anxiety many feel when visiting the dentist. Our design response has been to craft an environment that feels intrinsically nurturing, warm and welcoming - shifting the traditional clinical dynamic toward one of care and rest.

With careful planning the practice remains operational throughout the build, transitioning into two new surgeries, waiting areas and amenities while stage two gently adapts parts of the current heritage-listed premises.

We look forward to revealing unique patient-focused details of the design over the coming weeks.

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S

🥂🎉🍾

Gen had today registered as an Architect, and we are so pleased and proud of this achievement!

To register as an Architect in Australia one must first complete an accredited university bachelors degree, a masters degree and complete at least 3300 hours of logged experience across 48 competencies. Following the log book, a national practice exam can be sat, and then an interview. As for Gen, for most Architects, this is the result of 10 years of hard work and dedication.

Well done!

The Mill Lane Precinct in Glenorchy is a workplace ‘village’, consolidating multiple parts of St Vincent de Paul Society’s Southern Tasmanian operations. Maguire + Devine Architects have brought order and delight to a complex brief, placing the wellbeing of the employees and volunteers at its heart.

The 2,500m2 adaptive re-use warehouse conversion acccommodates supported employment workplaces, regional office, board room, training room, emergency relief hub, commercial kitchen and facilities for Vinnies Loui’s food vans, and two retail stores. Each retains a distinct identity, while shared spaces - kitchen, dining hall, garden and amenities build a sense of collective belonging across the organisation.

All spaces throughout the precinct are designed with empathy and care. The design process began with close observation of existing workplaces, identifying spatial, environmental and operational shortcomings. These insights informed a series of targeted interventions to improve comfort, safety and dignity.

Daylit interiors, high ceilings and clear spatial organisation promote orientation and ease of movement. The interiors feature natural plywood linings, exposed pine framing, indoor plants and opportunities for personalisation of individual workspaces. Heat recovery ventilation ensures consistent fresh air, supporting health and wellbeing.
