Termite season is here. Is your home ready?

If you’ve noticed termite alates flying around and hitting your car lately, you’re not alone. October through to March is peak termite swarming season on the Sunshine Coast, thanks to our subtropical climate.

So… should you be worried about flying termites?

It depends on the protection you already have in place.

If you maintain an effective termite management system and keep up with regular inspections, there’s usually little to worry about. But if your protection is no longer effective or inspections have been infrequent, flying termites are a strong reason for concern.

If it’s been more than 12 months since your last termite inspection, it’s time to give us a call.
Protect your home - book your inspection today.

🐨💙 MEET OUR NEXT LITTLE LEGEND! 💙🐨

We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce the newest adorable little Aussie that Laguna Pest Control is proudly fostering through Queensland Koala Crusaders!

But behind this gorgeous little face is a heartbreaking story.

Weighing just 220 grams, this tiny joey has already had a tough start to life.

Sadly, his mum was desperately ill with melioidosis and struggling to breathe. Her carers couldn’t believe she was still alive and suspected she may have been hanging on for her precious baby.

Despite everyone’s best efforts, his mum couldn’t be saved and sadly had to be euthanised, leaving this tiny little joey orphaned.

But his story doesn’t end there!

Thanks to the incredible dedication and hard work of the amazing carers at Queensland Koala Crusaders, this little fighter has been given a second chance.

He still has a long road ahead of him and needs bucket loads of TLC, but he’s now getting all the love and care he deserves.

And seriously… just look at that gorgeous little face! 😍

Our newest little legend is yet to be named!

What do YOU think we should call this brave little fighter?

Drop your name suggestions in the comments below! 👇

At Laguna Pest Control, we believe protecting our beautiful Queensland environment means caring for the wildlife that calls it home, too.

We’re incredibly proud to play a small part in giving our iconic koalas a second chance.

Small business, big hearts, and one very special little legend!

A huge shout-out to the wonderful team at Queensland Koala Crusaders for the incredible work they do! 🐨❤️

A TEAM DOESN’T DILUTE THE SERVICE. IT MULTIPLIES IT.

You’ll often hear smaller pest control businesses say, “When you book with us, you deal directly with the owner.”

And that’s a great thing! But here’s something worth considering…

At Laguna Pest Control, you still have direct access to the owners. The difference? Behind us is a dedicated team of 12 people, bringing together years of experience, specialist knowledge and a shared commitment to getting the job done right.

Because sometimes, one set of eyes just isn’t enough.

Pest control isn’t always straightforward. Whether it’s identifying an unusual insect, investigating tricky termite activity, managing persistent rodents or finding the safest treatment for a property, having a team means we can share ideas, draw on each other’s experience and work together to find the best solution.

And that’s a huge advantage for our customers!

So, what does having a team mean for you?

✅ More knowledge, better solutions – Different experiences, specialist skills and a team that can put their heads together to solve challenging pest problems.

✅ The right person for the job – From termites and rodents to general pests, mosquitoes and commercial properties, we have experienced pest managers with knowledge across different areas.

✅ Reliable service – If someone is away, attending training or tied up on another job, we have a team to keep things moving.

✅ A second opinion when it matters – Complex pest problems benefit from collaboration, not guesswork.

✅ Continuous learning – Our team regularly shares knowledge, explores new products and refines treatment methods. When one person learns something new, the whole team benefits.

✅ Safety and consistency – Working together means better support on challenging jobs, consistent reporting and reliable follow-up.

We’re also big believers that no matter how experienced you are, there’s always something new to learn. And having a team that shares knowledge makes us all better at what we do.

We’re proud to be a local, family-owned business, where the owners remain actively involved and our customers are never just another number.

At the end of the day, choosing a pest control company isn’t just about who answers the phone. It’s about the experience, knowledge and support behind the service.

With Laguna Pest Control, you don’t just get the owners. You get the whole team behind them.

12 people. Shared knowledge. Local experience. One commitment to looking after our customers.

That’s the Laguna difference.

TERMITE EXPERTISE, RIGHT HERE IN COOLUM:
At Laguna Pest Control, termites aren’t a side service. They’re a specialty.

Owner Jay is a trainer and assessor, an Australian pest manager, a mentor, and a speaker at conferences and courses across Australia and internationally. That depth sits behind every inspection and treatment we do on the Sunshine Coast.

In January, Jay heads to the University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Research & Education Center as a guest speaker at the 5th Termite Course for Professionals: Biology and Control.

This level of expertise is not offered here in Australia. It isn’t a standard conference session. It’s a rare chance for pest professionals, sales reps and technical staff to go properly deep on termite biology — the science that usually never makes the conference floor — and to understand termites as more than “the pest in the wall.”

Jay will be presenting termite inspection tips and speaking on Australian termites, alongside some if the world’s leading termite researchers.

The course is almost sold out, with only a handful of spots left. Pest professionals from all over the United States are already attending, so you’ll need to move quickly to snap up a ticket.

Speakers and the full agenda are in the link below:
https://conference.ifas.ufl.edu/termitepro/

One of the things we’re most proud of at Laguna Pest Control is the level of termite expertise we have right here in Noosa.

Local knowledge. International standard.

Mosquito season has arrived in Coolum. With warm nights and recent rainfall, we are seeing an increase in activity across the region.
While it isn't possible to eliminate every mosquito, you can effectively manage their presence around your property to help you enjoy your outdoor spaces.

Simple steps to reduce numbers at home:

- Empty standing water weekly.
- Keep gutters clear.
- Screen water tanks.
- Cover up during dusk hours.
- Use an effective repellent.

When these habits aren't enough, Laguna Pest Control is here to help. We are licensed, local, and focused on managing mosquito populations around your home and outdoor living areas.
Don’t wait until they become a nuisance.

EXPERIENCE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

In Queensland, pest control technicians need the right licences and qualifications to do the job. Training gives technicians an important foundation - but like most trades, there are some things that only come with time and experience in the field.

Experience is being able to properly identify what you’re dealing with before deciding how to treat it. It’s recognising pest behaviour, understanding why it’s there, knowing where to look and choosing an approach that suits the property.

It’s knowing how Coolum’s subtropical weather affects pest activity throughout the year.

It’s understanding why an approach that works well at one property might not be the best option for the house next door.

It’s knowing when to treat, when not to spray, and when a closer look is needed.

It’s looking beyond the pest you can see and working out what might be attracting it or allowing it into the property.

And it’s knowing how to read a house — the roof void, subfloor, gardens, moisture, entry points and all the little things that can make a difference over time.

At Laguna Pest Control, we’ve been looking after homes and businesses across Coolum and the surrounding areas since 2010.

Our technicians are licensed and qualified, but just as importantly, they bring years of hands-on local experience. They’ve worked in kitchens, roof voids, subfloors, gardens and businesses throughout our region and understand the pest pressures that come with living in our part of Queensland.

Qualifications provide the foundation.
Experience builds on it.
Local experience brings it all together.
