Wish we could share the heavenly scent from these beautiful gardenias. A good prune and feed before spring brought on this stunning flush of blossoms. We also recommend regular watering through spring and summer and removing the dead flower heads to maintain plant health and reduce ants and mealy bugs.

PLEASE DON’T SPRAY YOUR CITRUS WITH INSECTICIDE
– Even 'organic' bactericide Bacillus thuringiensis (aka: 'Bt')

In perfect timing with the growth of fresh new leaves – one, or more, of these spectacular butterflies may visit your Citrus to rear their next generation on.

There are 6 species of Citrus Swallowtails on the Australian mainland (and 2 more found on Australian islands) that seek-out cultivated and native Citrus in gardens – or even in pots. These also happen to be some of the largest and most beautiful native Australian butterflies.

This Poster shows what the female butterfly look like and where they are found. Keep an eye-out for them. Maybe you could even allow her eggs to grow into an adult butterfly on your Citrus?

This page is FREE to Share, download and print-out. [The butterflies will be actual-size if printed onto A3] You can help raise awareness of these butterflies by putting them up in garden centres, nurseries, kindies, schools, offices, homes...

We recently transformed a bare backyard into this. Here's what the owners said. "Rory from Thriving Horticulture achieved a spectacular transformation with our small garden at Noosa Heads. From the start he was easy to work with, listening carefully to what we wanted to achieve but was also great at offering advice and suggestions. He has an extensive understanding of native plants and recommended a lovely combination of natives with tropical plants and a new lawn, extensive garden beds, and paved pathway to complete our garden. As I knew little about plants, he kindly took me to another project he had worked on to show me some examples of suitable plants. Rory also had good advice about lighting and general plant and garden maintenance. He works hard and he and his small team were a pleasure to deal with. We are totally thrilled with our magnificent new garden. It has transformed our home.

Rasp Ferns waiting to be planted soon. Doodia aspera is a local fern that grows naturally on the edge of some our rainforests and wet eucalypt forests. They are wind and salt tolerant and prefer shady areas of the garden.

It was very satisfying to rescue some local native trees from under a huge tangle of old vines yesterday.

The W**d Society of Queensland have recently produced a very handy app useful for the identification and management of weeds in Southern Queensland. You can get further information here: http://www.wsq.org.au/WSQ%20app.htm

The app was developed from the third edition of the very popular and user-friendly book by a working group of W**d Society of Queensland members.
