Rebuilding a home and a lifestyle in Mallacoota 🌊 🏠

Losing her home in the devastating 2019 bushfires, this client had some requirements for her rebuild in Mallacoota; an architectural shed-style home rated at BAL-40. With our prefabricated light gauge steel frames, we could meet all these requirements as well as reducing time on site at this harder-to-reach location.

The journey to a modular frame 💭 ✨ 🏠
From first enquiry in June 2024 to frame stage in June 2025, this modular build is taking shape! Our clients saw our completed Compact Living Modular in Marlo and were inspired to create their own for a space at the local caravan park. After some time to consider their options and thoughtful collaboration between client, builder, designer, park owners, estimators and suppliers; we’re excited to see this modular coming together! So when you ask “how long does a modular take?” : The build? That’s the quick bit. The journey and planning? It takes as long as it takes to get it right. And this one is an absolute pearler👌🏼

Built QA Co-Founder, Lachlan Heather, grew up in a Orbost. His family have a history in logging, agriculture and construction in the region. Having obtained education and industry experience in Melbourne, Lachlan returned home in 2020, bringing Built QA and his young family with him. Lachlan’s daughters, Leni and Darcy love popping into the Built QA facility, particularly Darcy (pictured) who insists on visiting ‘Mack’ (from Cars) aka. the Built QA crane truck

Thanks for visiting us Orbost Community College

Not your typical English curriculum trip! This week Year 11 VCE students visited local business Built QA as part of their creative writing unit, investigating the idea of 'Home'. They discussed changes to housing and industries in the area as well as career opportunities.

You don’t see that every day! This shot shows a new classroom and admin building being lifted into place via a crane for Wild Cherry School in Bairnsdale.

RMG’s structural engineering team partnered with Built QA , a modular construction company located in East Gippsland, to design the modular chassis and super structure. Fabricated in Numeralla, the building was transported to Bairnsdale and is already operational for Term 1 2025.

Modular construction allows for buildings to be fabricated offsite and lifted in to place, which reduces the construction disruption to the school grounds, a great option for this project.

This event was so special to us as our team worked hard for three years constructing the new brewery and finally got to experience what is one of East Gippsland’s newest and greatest attractions ! With our three entity’s combining with friends and family, it was an incredible day for all.
