GB Electrical was founded by its current four directors Greg Beeton, Maureen Beeton, Darren Andrews and Mick Smedley. GB Electrical was registered in September 1991 and has continually grown and expanded to now employ a total of 68 employees. We have a secure financial position with low debt and a healthy balance sheet. We bank with Westpac Hamilton branch and our accountant is McGregor & McGregor’s Wayne Olsen who has been with GB Electrical since incorporation. We provide sales and service in the areas of electrical breakdowns, maintenance, installations, special projects, hospitality and catering equipment, machinery repairs, automatic doors, lifts and access controls. Our staff are friendly, reliable and provide complete customer service with great communication from before the job has started to after the job is complete. Our well trained and knowledgeable teams deliver quality, value for money products and services on time with a courteous and helpful approach. All our work is safe and compliant according to all relevant current standards and regulations. We deliver the most comprehensive range of electrical and mechanical services in the industrial and commercial sector available to current and potential clients. We use safe systems of work for our employees and the public with minimal impact on the environment. Heritage charm, a whole new glow 💡

GBE is proud to have recently completed an internal and external architectural lighting upgrade at the iconic Tocal Agricultural College, enhancing some of the site’s most significant and well-loved buildings.

The project included the upgrade and installation of architectural lighting throughout the Hall, Chapel and Meeting Rooms, along with carefully designed external lighting which highlights the unique character and heritage features of these landmark buildings.

GBE integrated an advanced lighting control and automation system, providing intelligent scheduling, dimming functionality and scene control. This allows for lighting levels and moods to be tailored to suit various activities and events, whilst improving operational flexibility and energy efficiency. By combining architectural lighting, modern control technology and thoughtful design, this projected has improved the functionality of the precinct and enhanced the visual impact.

Thank you to Tocal Agricultural College for trusting GBE to be part of this project. It was a privilege to contribute to a site that plays such a significant role in the Hunter Region’s history and agricultural education. This project was delivered in partnership with Stramac Lighting and Centraj Newcastle, whose support and expertise helped bring the vision to life.

When did your building's emergency lights last get tested? Not the annual test, the monthly one. 👀

AS/NZS 2293.2 actually asks for three: a quick monthly check, a 6-monthly discharge test, and a full annual test. Most sites only do the annual one and miss the rest.

There's no fine for a missed check. The problem only shows up on the one night the lights are actually needed, when the missing records become the whole story in any claim.

Comparing quotes for electrical maintenance? The cheapest one isn't always the safest. 👀

The annual fee is easy to compare. What's harder to see is what's actually covered, how fast someone turns up when something breaks, and whether you'll have the compliance records you need when an auditor asks.

A good contract names every asset it covers, guarantees a response time, and hands you paperwork after every visit. A weak one hides all of that.

A commercial switchboard rarely fails out of the blue. It warns you first. 👀

Repeated trips. A board that's warm to the touch. Old rewireable fuses. No safety switches. A note from the last inspection that never got actioned.

Any one of these is worth a look. Two or more? Time for a proper assessment, before it turns into an outage with tenants left in the dark.

GBE Group’s Commercial Catering team recently supplied and installed this UNOX CHEFTOP MIND.Maps PLUS 10-tray combi oven, complete with a ventless hood and high stand.

Our Electrical Contracting team also installed the new three-phase power supply required to operate the equipment.

With automatic cooking programs, integrated Wi-Fi and the flexibility to roast, steam, grill, brown, fry and more, this setup gives a busy commercial kitchen greater versatility and repeatable cooking results.

Motor condition monitoring — tracking winding degradation over time to schedule controlled replacement before failure.

Thermographic scanning — identifying hotspots in MCCs and switchgear before they cause serious damage at industrial operating currents.

Safety interlock verification — confirmed active and correctly wired on every service visit. The most important check in safety-critical environments.

Compliance documentation — every service recorded to AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 4024. A compliance record, not a docket.
