Meet the Team 🤘
Introducing Mattie!
Mattie is one of the founders of TeakBuilt, starting his career through his apprenticeship in the Forster–Tuncurry region. Always keen to level up, he went on to complete his Cert IV, which helped shape the direction he wanted to take in the industry.
Over nearly two years, Mattie and James made the regular trips to Newcastle, both chasing the same goal — to eventually live here and build something of their own. That vision became TeakBuilt. Side by side, they’ve continued to push and back each other to be the best they can.
When Mattie’s not on the tools, you’ll usually still find him… on the tools at his own place. If not, he’s out bodyboarding or adding to the rugby league jersey collection.
And let’s not forget his love for the Parramatta Eels — poor bloke 🤣
The rest of Mattie’s time is spent with his three dogs, his wife Bec and little Frankie.

What do you want clients to feel when the job’s finished: Excited and stoked with the end result — it’s a long process with a lot of planning, especially for first-timers, so that feeling at the end is what it’s all about
What’s the goal with TeakBuilt: Keep growing, learning and building 😍
How do you and James work so well together: We back each other in our roles, make decisions together when it counts, and years of mateship means there’s trust there — it just works 🤝
