We’ve had several calls in the last week regarding Indian Mynas nesting in gutters and roof voids. The start of this month is peak time for nesting, which will continue through to March.

We highly recommend proofing and trapping as the main two control methods. Traps can be bought online. As an invasive species, the public can deal with them (in a humane way) without repercussions.

We do recommend the following:

1) Seal any roof entry points and gaps before they become an issue.

2) Install gutter mesh, seal any gaps in eaves and fascias and cover any open rain heads.

3) Remove any food and water that may attract them including pet food. Cover or seal any outside rubbish or compost bins.

4) Visual deterrents (fake owls, hawks etc) can be effective for a short period of time. These birds are highly intelligent and will eventually figure out they are a decoy. Move them regularly and combine with other control methods.

For anymore information or advice, give me a call👍

Up at Mount View today for a termite inspection and test drilling some suspect looking gum trees in close proximity of the home. One colony located and dealt with.

With the warmer temperatures and high humidity, termites are active and on the move. Swarming time is just around the corner (late spring, early summer).

We strongly recommend annual inspections; 6 monthly in high pressure areas.

Contact us today for all your pest and termite management👍

Spring is here which means we will start to see an abundance of spiders around the home. As the weather warms up, insect activity increases which causes spiders to move and follow their food sources; inside and outside of the home.

Spring is an ideal time for a targeted spider treatment. Not all spiders are dangerous, most types of spiders found in the garden are beneficial to the environment as they reduce insect levels around the home.

Unfortunately, they tend to turn up at the wrong time, wrong spot and in front of the wrong person. Some people have extreme phobias, or concerns for little ones and pets; that’s where we can help.

Give us a call today or send an online enquiry through our website. External treatments starting from $165 inc gst.

Our full residential price list is available on our website.

I’ve been busy with termite inspections and treatments over the last week. Termites are still active during winter, and now as we head back into the warmer months, activity will be on the rise.

Annual inspections are highly recommended, six monthly in high pressure areas. No structure is immune from termite ingress.

A small investment now, could prevent a costly repair bill in the future 💲💲💲

Rodent season is upon us. As the weather cools, rodents seek out warm shelter including in roof voids. This is a photo of an install today at Balcolyn where we identified a Norway rat issue; we then installed two snap trap tunnel stations.

Snap traps are a better method than traditional baiting as we can remove any dead carcasses without running the risk of them ending up in an area where they can’t be retrieved.

All our rodent jobbings come with a follow up visit included in the initial cost. We will also do a complete site survey and identify any potential entry points that require sealing to prevent future issues.
