Activity risk assessments focus on the specific tasks your business performs.

Too often, we hear small to medium business owners ask about risk registers, risk assessments, and what the difference is.

Identifying the activities in your business first ensures that every activity has the appropriate safety documentation, training, and procedures in place. Then you can staff building risk registers.

An activity risk assessment includes:
- A description of the task or activity (e.g., using power tools, operating forklifts)
- Description/What is the activity/risk/equipment/task?
- Where does this occur?
- What is the harm that the activity could cause?
- What control measures are in place?
- What is the level of risk?
- Required training, licences, or competencies

The Activity Register serves as the link between everyday work activities and the WHS controls that support them. It helps owners and supervisors plan work safely and ensures that all required documentation is in place before work begins.

This is why the activity risk assessment has been included in CIRT to make that task even simpler.

If your club operates gaming machines, this is a regulatory change you can’t afford to overlook.

As of 1 April 2026, the $10,000 identification exemption has been removed. Any gaming machine transaction of $5,000 or more now requires customer identification. This isn’t just a policy tweak - it’s an operational shift.

If your staff aren’t up-to-date with this change, your club is exposed to risk.

Now is the time to review procedures, train your team, and ensure supervisors are actively monitoring compliance. If you’re using CIRT monthly tasks and toolbox talks, this is already covered.

Need support updating your procedures or rolling this out through your CIRT system? We can help you implement it quickly and effectively.
