Hunter towns Gloucester, Dungog and Maitland have welcomed back the Sydney-Grafton XPT as a transport option from this week.

Following 12 months off the tracks for major upgrades, including improvements to air-conditioning, toilets and seating, the much-loved service departed Central Station once again on Tuesday.

To mark the occasion, and its return trip 24 hours later, it’ll run as a full set in the train’s original livery of distinctive black, red, silver and warm white branding.
