👁️ We’re heading into pinkeye season, and prevention is always better than cure.

Coopers Piliguard Pinkeye Vaccine is the only commercially available pinkeye vaccine for cattle in Australia – helping protect your herd before the risk hits.

With pinkeye costing Aussie beef producers an estimated $13.3 million each year in lost production and treatment (MLA), it pays to stay one step ahead.

✅ Ask us today about Piliguard and keep your cattle protected this season.

Now is the time to get on top of w**ds before they flower, set seed and become next year’s problem. But before reaching for the spray unit, it is worth asking: why is that w**d growing there in the first place?

A w**d is simply a plant growing where it is not wanted. Weeds rarely occur evenly across a farm, and where they grow can tell us a lot about the conditions that favour them.

🌱 IN THE CROP WITH CRS | Don’t Let Broadleaf Weeds Steal the Spring Advantage

Warmer temperatures and increasing soil moisture don’t just encourage crop and pasture growth—they can also trigger a fresh flush of broadleaf w**ds.

Thistles, capew**d, Paterson’s curse, fleabane and other problem w**ds can quickly compete for valuable moisture, nutrients and sunlight. Left unchecked, they may also reduce pasture utilisation, contaminate hay and create a larger seedbank for future seasons.

Now is a good time to walk paddocks and consider:
🌱 Which w**d species are present
🌱 Their size and growth stage
🌱 Whether they are actively growing
🌱 The surrounding crop or pasture species
🌱 Grazing, cutting and withholding-period requirements
🌱 Weather conditions before and after application

Small, actively growing w**ds are generally easier to control than mature plants. Correct identification and timing are just as important as choosing the right product—particularly in mixed pastures where desirable legumes may also be affected.
Call into Cudgegong Rural Supplies and speak with the team about the most suitable broadleaf w**d-control option for your paddocks.

Always read and follow label directions. Consider plant-back and withholding periods before grazing, cutting or sowing.

How much are those trips into town actually costing you? ⛽

Not just the fuel — the hour there and back, the trailer, the jerry cans, and the job that didn't get done while you were gone.

Our 5,000L Diesel Storage Tank puts the fuel where the work is. Five thousand litres means you buy at bulk rates instead of pump prices, take delivery on your schedule, and start the day with a full tank instead of a plan to go and get one.

It's rotationally moulded in one piece at our Tamworth factory from diesel-grade, UV-stabilised poly. That matters more than it sounds — there are no welds or seams to fail, and nothing inside to rust and travel down into your fuel system.

✅ Capacity: 5,000L above-ground diesel storage
✅ Fitted out: 50mm anti-splash fill line, lockable outlet with camlock, water separator filter, earth strap and rod
✅ Level gauge: readable from the ground
✅ Built tough: Australian made to AS/NZS 4766, 5 year warranty

Limited Time Offer $5,590, down from $8,600. That’s $3,010 off until 31 December.

🌱 IN THE CROP WITH CRS

Don’t let spring growth hide emerging problems!

With warmer days driving rapid crop and pasture growth across the Mudgee district, now is an important time to get out and inspect paddocks closely.

Cereal crops moving through stem elongation are rapidly increasing their demand for moisture and nutrients, while hay paddocks need to be monitored closely as cutting time approaches.

Look beyond the view from the ute and check for:
🌾 Foliar disease developing within thick canopies
🌾 Aphids and other insect activity
🌾 Late-germinating w**ds
🌾 Nutrient deficiencies or uneven growth
🌾 Waterlogging and root stress in heavier country
🌾 Frost damage in low-lying areas

For haymakers, now is also the time to assess crop maturity, feed quality and the weather forecast. Cutting too early can sacrifice yield, while leaving it too late may reduce quality and increase the risk of weather damage.

Before applying additional nitrogen or fungicide, consider the crop’s growth stage, yield potential, available soil moisture and intended end use. Each paddock should be assessed on its own merits.

A well-timed paddock inspection now can help protect both yield and quality before small issues become expensive ones.

Call into Cudgegong Rural Supplies and speak with our in store Agro Scott, about your spring cropping and haymaking requirements.
