Rain days = Inductions, safety training & sharpening the tools behind the scenes.
It’s not always sunshine, rainbows or talking to the trees — sometimes it’s laptops, compliance and making sure the crew is ready to hit the ground safely for upcoming works.
Quiet days done right keep the big days running smooth

This week marked a hugely rewarding milestone for The Regenerative, as we wrapped up all Year 1 management actions across two Biodiversity Stewardship Sites in the Hunter Valley, capping off a massive year of hands-on environmental restoration.

Throughout the year, we accomplished over 95ha of w**d control (spot spraying mind you), removed over 30km of old internal fencing, upgraded 20km of tracks and trails, had the legends at Franks Fencing install over 6km of new fences (Waratah of course) and put in a heap of gates, we collected native seed for tubestock planting next year, and we even slashed 12ha in preparation for next years 10,000 tubestock.

It’s no wonder there were smiles when Paul and Josh put the finishing touches on the gates with the final sign installed this week, meaningful environmental work at its finest and all in the name of ecological conservation!

A couple of snaps from the last few weeks! The crew have been loving the variety this Spring — w**d control, pasture monitoring, hydromulching, and rehabilitation projects… plus a rare encounter with one of our own threatened species

Monitoring should be a major part of any enviro project whether it be w**d and pest control through to revegetation works. Not only does it hold accountability but also shows progress.

Here the guys are installing a simple photo monitoring point before we kick off a w**d project for a federal client in the Riverina area.

Just remember, environmental monitoring does not have to be rocket science. 👍

Native seed collection is one thing, ensuring the seed is clean, viable and worth the price is another…

Some sites we have worked on have asked why their rehabilitation is failing, didn’t germinate or was very thin, even though sowing at high rates and doing some soil prep works.

There are so many factors to consider when doing rehabilitation, no it’s not rocket science but if you have the ability to check the seed viability, how it’s stored and used, you have a better understanding and chance. We can also use a finite resource more efficiently.

The market for natives is continually growing, with high demand comes $$$$ but if we can use more efficiently our rehabilitation efforts stand a better chance of establishment.

Here we are getting ready to take some grab samples before sending off to the lab.

Spring is looking great for rehabilitation this year with a favourable wet winter, high soil moisture and warmer soil temps, perfect for planting and sowing in the next few weeks.

The lads all kitted out for a week back in the Capertee National Park.

We have literally been mulching, slashing and controlling w**ds allowing healthy ecosystems to thrive. This has been achieved by the team using our RapidSpray units and Skidsteer opening up w**d invaded areas allowing the team to specifically target w**ds and provide the space for natives to thrive.

Sometimes a bit of initial impact is needed to rebalance the landscape, and we are starting to see the fruits of our labours.

Such an amazing part of the world out here, and we are proud to have been able to support NPWS in delivering this program.
