Getting the first fix electrical and plumbing right on a renovation takes careful planning and often goes unnoticed. Let’s take you behind the scenes and show you how it’s done.

On this project there’s a lot of existing brickwork which forms part of the new design so we have to avoid chasing into it.

Fixing timber battens on the walls so we can run the cables and water pipes behind allows us to get these services into the correct positions.

If this isn’t thought through early, the finished product can be a disaster.

By collaborating closely with our contractors we can plan this out thoughtfully so we handover a seamless and well built renovation.

If you have a new home or renovation project in mind, please get in touch. We’re to help you navigate this complex building process and bring your dream project to life.

As we finish off another week, we want to give a shout-out to our Saxony team, trades and clients for the great communication & collaborative work that’s taken place this week.

One thing we really value at Saxony is bringing everyone together throughout the building journey.

Regular site meetings with our clients, trades and building team give us the opportunity to talk through the details, problem solve together and make sure we're achieving the result our clients are looking for.

We believe the best outcomes happen when everyone has a voice, ideas are shared and we make decisions together.

And just as importantly, our clients get to be part of the journey, watching their home take shape, understanding the process and feeling confident in the decisions being made along the way.

Well done team, enjoy the weekend!

We are a custom builder and that means we work with what is existing, what our clients want for their home & bringing in the new to compliment.

This home is custom with a capital C! No standard solutions & lot's of problem solving as we bring new and old together, while honouring the original stone and timber features.

What a privilege to bring this home into its next chapter.

Thought, collaboration & craftsmanship, truly a custom home.

Sustainability is a buzz word in the building industry at the moment.

What does it mean to build a sustainable home? What energy is used when creating and building a home? How much energy is used in creating the materials that go into a building?

These are all great questions but we’d like to take a look at another energy source which is often overlooked. It’s the energy that a person uses to create these homes. What about the headspace that gets used up to build a home?

Not only for the trades, suppliers or builders, but also the energy that you as owners and clients use to go into this building process.

Luke explains more on why being aware of how much energy you use in building a home is so important. Understanding this and being aware of it is why we aim to provide all our clients an enjoyable building process.

Let us help you through this complex process so you have the energy required to get a great home which you’ll love for years to come. This process is suppose to be stress free so let us help you through it.

Had a great day out at the Barossa Mitre 10 golf day last week.

There were some great shots and there were some ordinary shots but it was all for a great cause. Raising some much needed funds for Outer North Youth Homelessness Services.

A great day to hang out with the team and networking with other trades and suppliers all part of the Barossa Mitre 10 community.

Until next year, it’s back to the driving range and putting green! ⛳️

Knowing where to start when you design your home can be a big deal. That’s why we walk alongside you through the process.

Here’s a few things to think about when you’re in the early stages of planning your new home.

* The size of your home
* What is included in your budget
* Habitable vs. non habitable space.
* What services are required for your home
* How do you want to live in your home

These are only a few things to think about when designing your first concept design.

We help navigate this important stage with you so the rest of the design phase runs smoothly.

Thinking about building? Reach out to us and we’ll help you through these important steps.

Timber framing can be a major factor in the way your home performs.

This is why we have moved to all of our homes being built with timber framing instead of steel. Luke started his building journey as a boilermaker and then learnt to build homes using steel frame and spent years installing the steel frames.

So to make this move hasn’t come lightly. It’s been a long process but as you research and understand how this affects the home’s performance you can’t go back.

The simple test to know that timber performs better in slowing down the transfer of heat and cold is by trying to pick up a piece of steel in summer. It’ll burn your hand if you’re not wearing gloves but with timber it’s easily done. This is exactly what’s happening inside the walls of a home built with steel. They get hotter!

There are other factors on why we have moved to timber but we’ll save them for another day.

The external frame of your home plays a huge roll in how much energy is used in heating and cooling your home.

This project is the first one we’ve built with a 140mm external frame. Why is that you ask? Well, it allows us to get a thicker insulation batt into the wall frame.

Normally on a stock standard 90mm frame you can only fit an R2.7 batt, but by building a thicker wall, we can now place a R4.0 wall batt in this space.

It means the home uses less energy, because the thicker wall batt is stopping the heat and cold from being transferred to the inside of your living space, making your home so much more comfortable to live in. 😊

Would you like to see this thicker wall on your new home? If you do, then reach out. We’d love to make that possible for you.
