Another trapping program completed targeting feral pigs in steep remote terrain in the great dividing range NSW as part of a yearly coordinated control effort.
The trapping program was a success covering a lot of country and removing many pigs including some boars well over 90kg.

Taking a quick break from a pig trapping contract and having a successful session last night taking 4 vixens for a landholder in the Wingecarribee shire NSW.

For anyone who is unsure foxes are an invasive species here in Australia🇦🇺 and cost our agricultural sector an estimated $200-$250million per year in livestock losses and management programs. They also kill roughly 300million native animals across the country per year driving many of them into extinction.

A successful day removing rabbit warrens in some hard to reach places. As you can see the rodenator system is strong enough to completely collapse and remove the warrens but soft enough to not damage the native sapling trees and saltbush even tho the warrens were directly underneath them.

8 more pigs captured this week in the Mulwarree Shire NSW while getting through some smaller jobs before heading away on another trapping program at the end of this month.

A great day yesterday finishing up the last of my gov contracts for the 2025-2026 financial year period. Picking up these last 8 pigs gives me a 93% control rate on the mobs of pigs at site during each trapping program.

Despite some bad weather and 4 months away from home the pig and predator trapping and baiting programs were completed on time delivering good results. I will look forward to the next one.

A successful rabbit session completed last night taking 32 rabbits at a sporting horse stud in town. Now off to set up a trap line for a predator control program.

Following up on my previous post with a video demonstrating the effectiveness of the Rodenator system. As you can see the combustable gas mixture of only 2-3% LPG made its way into all chambers within the warren system and with 2 seperate blasts the warren completely collapsed removing the harbour which also completes the final step in the rabbit control process.

A good day yesterday with Local Land Services using my rodenator system to remove rabbit warrens. This was a follow up harbour destruction program after a land holder successfully completed their baiting program.

The Rodenator system uses a mixture of oxygen and LPG gas to create a combustable atmosphere which is then detonated underground. A smoke machine is used to identify all entrances that are then blocked to prevent gas escaping. The gas mixture fills all cavities ensuring the total removal of the warren system.

Using the rodenator system is a very safe and efficient method and a much cheaper alternative to earth moving equipment. Using this method directly impacts the immediate warren system so its perfect for use in environmental/habitat areas and where earthmoving equipment cannot get into.

Pig trapping can be dangerous especially when clearing traps. Single large boars have the space to gain momentum when trapped alone, using their large mass and speed to try to bust through traps. Copping a hit like this would certainly wreck your day.

Like any wild animal, feral pigs would rather run away when confronted, but when cornered in a trap they will attack.

What the camera didn’t show was this pig charging at me multiple times until a suitable shot could be taken.

Always approach the pig brig at a safe angle and use the star post as a barrier between you and the pig. Be patient, study the pigs movements, and always prioritise your safety. Never shoot through the net, wait for a good clear head shot, and always remember to slow down and not rush the shot.

I don’t really record trap walk ups and clearing but I’ll look into getting a gopro for future programs.

Monsters still exist taking 9 pigs today including 3 battle warn bruisers that would pretty easily weigh 90-100+kg.

1 old boar showing signs of deep tissue/muscle damage, scaring and recent puncture wounds from fighting just goes to show how sharp their tynes are and how tough and adaptable these animals are at beating infection and healing.
