Project update
Southern Highlands of New South Wales, in the town of Mittagong,

The primary form expressed in a restrained, blackened material palette reads as a deliberate insertion within the rural landscape, its massing composed to balance solidity and void. Openings are carefully proportioned, framing views while reinforcing the depth and weight of the façade.

The emerging stonework establishes a tactile dialogue with the site. Rather than applied decoration, it operates as a grounded plinth and landscape datum, mediating between built form and terrain.

The architecture begins to feel anchored embedded rather than placed as the material language extends outward into retaining elements and surrounding works.

In collaboration with ELA Blue this project is a contemporary timber pavilion inserted into a traditional suburban setting 🌿

This extension is defined by a bold rectilinear frame — a deep timber portal that creates threshold, shade and structure all in one move. The vertical cladding gives it a monolithic presence, while the warm tones soften the geometry against the garden backdrop.

Recessed glazing sits neatly within the frame, allowing the living space to open completely onto the deck. Inside and out become one continuous room — lawn to terrace to lounge.

The angled roof plane adds subtle movement, and the consistent timber lining blurs wall and ceiling to reinforce the pavilion feel.

A simple material palette. Strong form. Seamless indoor–outdoor connection.

Last week we attended an exclusive event at Mister Wei Western Sydney’s first secret dining experience, curated by Head Chef Torres and restaurateur Wade Burns

The concept marks a new benchmark for the region, showcasing the depth, creativity, and experimental flair that define Chef Torres and the Mister Wei team.

Each dish embraced a stripped-back palette, allowing every ingredient to stand out and speak for itself. It was a moment where cuisine met architecture, the culinary approach mirroring the interior design, where raw materials are expressed with honesty, giving each element its own presence within the space.
