Today marks the beginning of Reconciliation Week.

This year for National Reconciliation Week Trans4m Rail are embracing the theme, โ€˜more than a wordโ€™, by telling the story of rail construction in the local area. Weโ€™re hosting a photo display and special interview documentary at Yaama Ganu Gallery in Moree called Rail Through Our Eyes.

Historically in Moree, rail construction has played a pivotal role in reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, bringing them together to work side by side on the alignment, enabling barriers to be broken down and life-long friendships to be formed.

The display invites residents to take a walk back in time and reflect upon reconciliation in Moree and the development of the local rail alignment.

Rail Through Our Eyes will be on display at the Yaama Ganu Gallery from Monday 31 May until Saturday 5 June and is free to attend.

TRANS4M RAIL TRAINEE PROGRAM ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŽ“

Seven young North West NSW locals have recently been recruited into orange uniforms through Trans4m Rail's project management traineeship.

The 24-month full time traineeships is being delivered in partnership with Apprenticeship Support Australia and TAFE Digital.

While undertaking the program, trainees will work towards obtaining a Certificate IV in Project Management through TAFE and gain valuable, practical experiences on a once in a generation project.

โ€œI have never seen this type of program put into action in the construction space beforeโ€, said Mr Holmes.

โ€œIt benefits all parties; young and eager locals are provided with an opportunity to broaden their career aspirations by obtaining a qualification while also gaining practical skills and experience in the construction industry.

โ€œAs our Engineers are provided with administration support, they are more available to utilised their core project engineering skills to ensure that the track is constructed to the highest possible standard.

โ€œThe program is helping us to deliver a legacy that will last long after the track has been constructed, hopefully these young people will use the skills they develop here and go onto to future project work or be inspired to continue their education at a tertiary institution.

โ€œThe trainee program provides young regional and rural people with an invaluable opportunity, increasing their employability in the futureโ€, Mr Holmes concluded.
