“Living the dream” yesterday installing a Generator Inlet for a client in Monbulk in typical melbourne weather.
Unfortunately the Transit Van couldn’t make it up what has to be one of Monbulk’s steepest and longest driveways!
So that meant carting not only our tools but also the Generator up the Hill (the pic included is only about 1/3 of the way up !).

With winter approaching, now is the time to get your generator installed.

Please reach out on 0411 952 986 for a quote.

A couple of Generator Inlets we installed recently in Mt Evelyn.

One customer went with the 15Amp inlet paired with the Dewalt 3600watt generator (electric start).

The other customer went with the 32amp inlet option as the wanted to be able to run most of the house on the generator, which we paired with a Rato generator from Total Tools (also electric start).
To make it easier for this client, we installed the lead behind the wall, thru the roof and out into the shed where the generator lives. This makes the changeover process so much quicker and neater wity no leads on the ground.

In both cases we went and picked up the generators and dropped in on a seperate visit to set it up and show the customer how it all works.

That’s the difference between us and our competitors, quality over quantity. We also used NHP and Hager for our materials, trusted brands that work.

With the upcoming winter, if you are considering getting a generator inlet installed, please reach out.

3 X Mitsubishi Electric Wall splits with built in wi fi installed downstairs for our client in Blackburn.
Paired with a 12kw ducted Mitsubishi Electric system upstairs we also installed, this house will be nice and warm for the coming melbourne winter and nice and cool for the summers.
With a generous rebate for disconnecting the original gas ducted system, the client received a great product at a great price.

Whilst there we also changed over 5 smoke detectors and tidied up the switchboard.

For all your heating/cooling needs, please reach out.
We do all aspects of electrical too so can package it all up for you for a great price.

Another local client we helped transition from gas ducted heating to electric.
A new Daikin electric ducted heating/cooling unit installed this week. With functions such as wi fi (turn the unit on/off from your phone,) to zoning (allows the customer to isolate certain rooms in the house, therefore reducing running costs) will allow the customer all year comfort for their heating/cooling needs.

With the journey to get off gas now completed, this customer can abolish their gas meter and save the yearly gas supply charge.

Being eligible for the VEU rebate (decommissioning old gas ducted heater) meant the overall cost was substantially reduced.

If you are thinking of heading down this path, or just have questions or need advice, please reach out.

INLET INFO

Hey local Community
Just been reading online about all the outages tonight, not ideal with this heat 🥵.

Obviously not tonight for an install but thought I wouid do a quick summary on what is involved in a generator inlet if you are thinking about installing one in the future.

Unfortunately these outages are becoming more and more common during heat waves and storms and a Gen Inlet is a relatively cheap way to safeguard against outages as compared to a home battery setup.

There are 2 options for an Inlet, 15A or 32a.

If you are after a generator to just do the necessities such as lights, general powerpoints, ducted heating (gas), evaporative cooling etc then a 15a will be sufficient. Keep in mind if you use the toaster and kettle at same time you may come close to overloading.

If your heating/cooling is electric such as split systems and you dont want the hassle of limiting what you can use with the generator, then a 32a would be the better choice.

Between $1000 - $1200 for a 15A Inlet

Around $1500 for a 32A Inlet.

Some boards need extra work and some boards have limited room, hence price dif.

These prices include an inspection.
Keep in mind you will need to also purchase a generator.

If going with a 15A option, you will need a 4kva generator. Bunnings stocks a good Dewalt one for around 1500.

If going with a 32a option, you will need a 7kva or higher generator.

Push button start is a must in my opinion. Who wants to be pulling a cord in middle of winter at night.

Lastly be careful of the guys that undercut and offer to do it on the cheap. Some of the Inlets I saw from the last storms looked like they had been done by 1st year apprentices.

I also have been to many houses where “local” electricians installed Gen Inlets which were illegal , not inspected and in some cases removed safety switches to fit the changeover switch!!

Remember you need a “PRESCRIBED” certificate of safety, a “non-prescribed” is not the correct one.

Lastly choose a good local electrician who has good reviews and will do a good job. There are many skilled ones in the local area.

If you need more info or have a query, please dont hesitate to get in touch.

My no is 0411 952 986.
Im based in Lilydale

Feel free to share this to other pages.
Hope that helps.
