Rinnai heat pump hot water, replacing an old gas system. From 1 October, Victoria's Midday Power Saver gives you 3 hours of free power every day (11am–2pm). Run your heat pump in that window, and your hot water costs next to nothing.

Complete electrification, Balwyn 🏡

Gas hot water and gas heating were swapped for a HydroAir heat pump system paired with an Australian-made heat pump hot water system, done right, start to finish.

With solar, a 40kWh battery, and Victoria's free midday power window landing from 1 October (11am–2pm, free, every day), this home is heating its hot water for next to nothing and staying warm right through winter without the bill shock.

We always focus on servicing and repairing boilers wherever we can. Some of our customers are still running systems that are 20+ years old, and with the right maintenance, they can keep going strong for a long time.

Looking after your boiler is a bit like looking after your car. Over time, gas pressures shift, water quality degrades, air finds its way into the system, and all of that slowly adds wear in ways you do not always see day to day.

That is when bigger issues can start to show up, especially with more expensive components like PCBs and control boards. When a boiler gets to the point where it is beyond economical repair, we will always look at like-for-like replacement options first and talk through alternatives like electric systems, depending on what makes sense for the property.

If you are unsure where your system sits or just want it checked over, reach out anytime. Happy to help.

Leaks usually mean fresh water is being introduced into the system, which can bring air, pressure changes, and hidden issues to the surface that have been sitting quietly over the summer.

This is exactly why we recommend checking systems before winter fully kicks in; it’s much easier to deal with it early than when everything is under load in the middle of a cold Melbourne week.

Winter is coming in Melbourne.

Now’s the time to get on top of your boiler before the cold really hits. We get people to service and check systems early for a reason, it helps catch small issues before they turn into big, expensive problems when you actually need heating the most.

Parts can be organised, repairs can be done properly, and you avoid the stress of something breaking down in the middle of winter.

Preventative work always wins over freezing through a Melbourne cold snap.

SIGN 3: RISING COSTS MEAN FALLING EFFICIENCY

If your hydronic system is running longer but your home still feels cooler, it’s often a sign that efficiency is dropping.

As systems age, controls can drift, sensors lose accuracy, and heat output no longer matches demand. The system compensates by running longer and harder.

The result is higher energy bills, longer run times, and increased wear, often without an obvious fault or noise.

When efficiency drops, costs rise.
This is one of the clearest signs a service is overdue.

SIGN 2: UNUSUAL NOISES ARE OFTEN A LATE WARNING

Hydronic systems should run quietly.
When noises appear, it’s often because internal components have already been under stress for some time.

Corrosion, scale and heat fatigue can slowly damage parts inside the system, long before a fault becomes obvious.

By the time a system starts making noise, it’s often telling you something inside is already failing.

Noise isn’t the problem.
It’s the warning.

SIGN 1: UNEVEN HEATING IS A FLOW WARNING

Some rooms warm up. Some stay cold.
That’s often one of the first signs a hydronic system isn’t operating as it should.

Common causes include:

Air trapped in the system
Sludge or scale build-up is restricting water flow
Circulation or balancing issues
Valves are not operating correctly

When sludge accumulates, it reduces flow and heat transfer, forcing pumps and boilers to operate harder than necessary.

If parts of your home aren’t heating evenly, it’s worth having the system checked before winter demand increases.

Hydronic servicing is now available for 2026.
