From Sydney to Newcastle: Beating the Clock on an Emergency Callout ⏱️

Copper theft is an unfortunate reality that can bring critical infrastructure to a standstill. Recently, we received an urgent call from a telecommunications client in Newcastle after thieves stole copper cabling from their site. 🔌🔨

With power compromised, the site needed immediate attention.

Our team left Sydney straight away to minimise downtime and get the site operational again. 🚗💨

Upon arrival we:

✅ Conducted a full inspection and testing of the damaged installation
✅ Secured the site to ensure it was safe to energise
✅ Connected temporary generator power to restore services

The site is now stable while permanent remediation works are planned.

🔧 Fault-Finding – Aeration Blower

This week we carried out some fault-finding and verification testing on an aeration blower system.

Using our Fluke MFT and meter, we checked insulation resistance, verified current draw, and inspected all terminations to make sure the motor was operating as it should.
✅ Insulation readings: >500 MΩ
✅ Load current: within spec
✅ Connections: all tight and healthy

During testing, we also identified and replaced a faulty pressure release valve, helping restore the system to full operation.

Routine maintenance and proper diagnostics like this help keep critical assets running smoothly and prevent unexpected downtime.

🔧 Keeping Things Moving with Altor 🔧

This week we were on-site at a Sydney plant after a pump tripped over the weekend.
✔️ Our team traced the issue to a solenoid valve stuck open, and while fault-finding, we also discovered a second valve that wasn’t operating correctly — both resolved on the spot.

We also investigated a noisy motor, using an electronic stethoscope to track down the source of the problem.

Another day of solving problems and keeping operations running smoothly at Altor. ⚡

And that's a wrap !!

It's taken a little while to get around to uploading these photos, but our Merrylands project is complete !

The team here at Altor saw this project through from the beginning, from roughing in to final completion.

It was one of our longest jobs to date but the results were worth it as it turned out amazing !

Another week, another chandelier completed at our Merrylands job !

This one being larger than the other one due to the ceiling being a lot higher.

Each piece of this chandelier was assembled and installed by hand, with over 130 parts that require to be assembled and placed in the correct position.

Once it was ready, the team lifted it to the correct height and finished the installation !

The Altor team recently completed a project for a valued client, which involved the following tasks:

- Installation of five 8MP turret cameras with motorized lenses for zooming on the external eaves at the front and rear of the house. An 8-channel NVR was also installed, with Ethernet cabling run to it to enable remote viewing of the cameras.
- Installation of external LED floodlights to cover all areas of the backyard.
- Installation of new power points on the tiled kitchen splashback.
- Installation of multiple power points in new locations and mounting of TVs accordingly.
- Running of a Cat 6 cable from the downstairs NBN box to the upstairs Wi-Fi modem to enhance Wi-Fi coverage upstairs.
