Skylights over the meals area in our finished Greenvale project on point βοΈ.
We often get asked where to place skylights and the cost from many clients. Unlike tv shows at the moment, not everyone has an unlimited budget from Velux, and placing 4 skylights in a small room may look amazing but is never a great idea. Essentially you have a hole in your roof that accesses both the heat and cold.
Skylights can cost a minimum between $2k - $5k per light, by the time you consider: the skylight, size, install, carpentry, plastering, flashing, blinds etc. So they add up very quickly!
Skylights also add to significant heat load and loss in a room. This is why understanding both design and energy performance is important. Practicality and Design need to work hand in hand inorder to obtain the best possible outcome. More isn't always the answer π€
