Over the last decade, Melbourne has added over 30 skyscrapers to its skyline, holding its title as #1 tallest skyline in Oceania, and 24th in the world.

It now has more high-rises than any other Australian city: 758 buildings, 77+ of them true skyscrapers (150 m+).

What a wild trajectory for a city that had a legal 40m height limit less than 100 years ago. 🚀

The standouts:

🥇 Australia 108 — 316.7m, 100 floors
Melbourne's current tallest. First tower in the Southern Hemisphere to break 100+ floors.

🥈 Aurora Melbourne Central — 270.5m, 84 floors
Melbourne's 3rd tallest. One of the last major completions before the 2020s boom.

🥉 West Side Place Tower A — 268.7m, 81 floors
Part of a $2B, 4-tower complex, with a Ritz-Carlton inside.

Queens Place North Tower — 252.8m, 79 floors
Once its twin is built, this'll be the tallest twin-tower project in Australia.

West Side Place Tower D — 239m, 72 floors
Same complex — West Side Place alone added 4 skyscrapers to the city.

Victoria One — 246.8m, 76 floors

Ever wondered what's inside the golden crown on top of Australia 108? 👑

It's officially called the Starburst, and it was the centrepiece of the concept from day one, not something added on afterward. Inspired by the Commonwealth Star on the Australian flag🇦🇺, the architects describe it as an exclamation mark in the sky.

Inside, it houses double-height infinity pools, a private cinema, and panoramic views stretching across Melbourne, all part of a residents-only space known as the Star Club.

The name has its own story too. The tower was originally planned as a 108-storey building, but the design was later cut to 100 storeys to meet aviation safety regulations. The developer kept the name anyway.

Developed by World Class Global and designed by Fender Katsalidis, the tower stands at 319 metres, making it the tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere. Before construction even reached ground level, piles were driven 46 metres into the ground just to support the structure.

🌿 Melbourne's next generation of workplaces is taking shape in Cremorne.

Cremorne Place at 120 Cremorne Street is nearing completion, delivering 12,891sqm of premium office space with an impressive 2,500sqm of landscaped terraces spanning every level.

Developed by INT.RE (formerly ICON Developments) and Zagame Property, the project has been designed by Architectus and is targeting 5 Star Green Star Buildings and 5 Star NABERS Energy Base Building ratings.

The entire building has already been leased by Easygo, the parent company behind Stake and Kick, highlighting continued demand for premium, sustainability-focused office space.

Construction continues on The Raleigh, Goldfields' flagship Build-to-Rent development in Windsor.

Rising from a 4,350sqm site on Raleigh Street, the 348-apartment project is being developed in partnership with Merricks Capital and delivered by Maxcon Constructions.

Designed by Webber, with interiors by Fraser and Partners, the development features a nature-inspired curvilinear form and an extensive amenity offering, including co-working spaces, wellness facilities, a cinema, and one of Melbourne's largest residential rooftop spaces.

As construction progresses, The Raleigh is quickly emerging as one of Melbourne's most notable Build-to-Rent projects.

The combination of New York high-rises and Tokyo’s skyline - another major tower is on the way for Southbank.🏙️🚧

Project Aura has officially been unveiled as the next stage of the Melbourne Square precinct. The $800 million development by OSK Property, designed by COX Architecture, will deliver 673 apartments alongside retail, wellness spaces, gardens, and shared community amenities.

What makes Aura stand out is its focus on “vertical wellness”, with communal spaces and lifestyle amenities integrated throughout the tower — influenced by Japanese design principles and modern high-rise living.✨

The project also brings together architecture, interiors, and landscape design through COX Architecture, DKO, and OCULUS, reflecting the shift towards more experience-driven residential developments across Melbourne.

222 Exhibition Street Melbourne — Where Drama Is Literally Built In

The lighting isn't just decorative — it's engineered. The facade reads completely differently depending on your viewing angle; approach from the north and you get an entirely different experience than standing directly in front of it.

Inside, the end-of-trip facilities include 222 bike racks — a satisfying nod to the address — plus 14 showers and 300 lockers and the building holds Carbon Neutral certification. It was also originally known as TAC House, which is considerably less glamorous than its current after-dark persona as one of Melbourne's more quietly dramatic CBD towers.

Two major construction consortia have now been shortlisted to deliver Stage 1 of the Melbourne Airport Rail 👀

The works will focus on upgrading the West Footscray–Albion corridor — adding new tracks and capacity to untangle one of Victoria’s busiest rail sections, and paving the way for a dedicated airport line.

With a contract expected in 2027, this is a key step forward for a project set to transform connectivity, boost capacity, and improve reliability across the network ✈️

A big one to watch for the industry.

Rialto: Melbourne’s First Skyscraper Icon

Before Melbourne built its supertalls, the Rialto Towers dominated the skyline. Completed in 1986 by the Grollo Group, the 251 metre tower became the tallest office building in the Southern Hemisphere at the time.

Its distinctive blue glass façade helped define Melbourne’s corporate identity and cemented Rialto as one of the city’s most recognisable silhouettes. The tower even hosted the city’s first skyscraper observation deck, operating from 1994 until 2009.

Today, even surrounded by a forest of newer towers, Rialto still holds its place - ranking #9 among Melbourne’s tallest buildings.

Melbourne’s historic St Patrick’s Cathedral is getting a massive $190 million makeover.⛪

St Patrick’s Cathedral is set for a $190m renewal, with works kicking off this year. Stage one focuses on restoring the cathedral itself and adding a new assembly building, along with a more opened, pedestrian-friendly precinct that better connects with the city around it.

Later stages will breathe new life into the Presbytery and the Cardinal Knox Centre, supported by $90m in funding, including $60m from the federal government. It’s one of the biggest heritage‑focused investments in the city and a rare chance for the construction, conservation, and heritage community to help shape a precinct that millions of Melburnians and visitors pass through every year.
