Revenue can drop. Your overheads don’t always follow.

I’ve seen good businesses with great teams struggle because the type of work they were doing changed, but their costs stayed the same.

They kept the team, maintained payroll and took on hourly contract work instead of higher-margin projects. The result? Revenue dropped, overheads remained, and profit disappeared.

**Being busy and keeping your team employed doesn’t always mean your business is making money.**

As a builder, you need to understand your numbers, know your margins and make sure the work you take on actually supports the business you’re trying to build.

Because revenue tells you how much is coming in. Profit tells you what’s left.
