We work through all public holidays, including Christmas and Easter, and are always here when our clients need us — so it’s time for a little well-earned time off.

🚨 Stormwater leak & blockage rectification for a commercial builder.

A commercial builder called us to investigate an existing stormwater issue within a concealed ceiling space.

🔎 We found two PlumbQuick/rubber coupling connections installed by another plumbing contractor, concealed within the plaster ceiling with no suitable access for inspection or maintenance. The connections had failed and were leaking.

📹 CCTV INSPECTION was carried out both downstream and upstream of the affected section.

⚠️ Around 4 metres downstream, we found 30–40mm of screed, grout, construction debris and suspended ceiling brackets inside the pipe, heavily restricting flow. Further debris was found upstream towards the balcony floor drain.

🔧 We removed the affected pipework and previous connections and installed new 100mm PVC stormwater pipework with solvent-cement connections.

🛠️ A new inspection opening was also installed for future maintenance and blockage clearing. We advised the builder to provide a suitable ceiling access hatch for future servicing, which was agreed to.

📋 Proper stormwater installations require suitable access for inspection, maintenance and clearing blockages in accordance with the NCC and AS/NZS 3500.3.

🚨🔧 WHEN THE BLOCKAGE ISN’T WHERE YOU THINK IT IS… 🔧🚨

Another tricky commercial maintenance plumbing job completed by the team at DK Plumbing and Gas Fitting. 💪

We attended a 3-storey building where wastewater from the upper floors was backing up and overflowing through a 1st-floor basin. 💦🚽

Our inspection identified a heavily deteriorated old galvanised sewer section, which had become badly rusted and restricted with years of built-up gunk. 🤢

We got stuck into it! 🔨

✅ Removed and replaced the deteriorated sewer section
✅ Cleared the blockage and built-up debris
✅ Unblocked the remaining sewer line servicing the 2nd & 3rd floors
✅ Tested the system and restored proper flow

But that wasn’t the only issue we found while on site… 👀

A separate ground-floor partial blockage had previously been assessed by other contractors, who believed the issue was located at the main sewer.

Our inspection told a different story. 🔎

We found tree roots had entered the pipe and were restricting the flow. 🌱🚨

We exposed the affected section, jackhammered the surrounding concrete and removed the roots and debris that were causing the restriction. 💪🔨

No guessing. No unnecessary work. Find the problem, fix the problem. 👨‍🔧✅

🔥 Another Gas Cooktop Installation Completed in Clayton South! 👨‍🔧🔥

A new gas cooktop professionally installed and tested for safe operation. ✅

Before installation, all gas appliances were isolated to allow a full gas line pressure test at 7 kPa, in accordance with Australian Standards. Once the cooktop was installed, the entire gas system was re-tested to ensure there were no gas leaks and that everything was operating safely and correctly. ✔️💨

🚧 Another successful project completed in St Kilda East! 🔧

This job involved replacing a dangerously rusted galvanised vent pipe on the 3rd floor main sewer stack. Using a scissor lift, we safely removed the old pipe and installed a new 100mm PVC vent, complete with a new vent cowl and secure wall clips. ✅

The old vent wasn’t properly secured and had become a serious safety hazard, with the potential to fall onto people or parked vehicles below. Safety always comes first! 👷‍♂️

While on site, we also supplied and installed a new Fluidmaster wall-hung cistern, restoring reliable operation to the toilet. 🚽

🏢 COMMERCIAL PUMP STATION UPGRADE COMPLETED

Recently completed the replacement and upgrade of a commercial grease trap pump station for one of our valued clients.

Rather than simply replacing the existing system, we incorporated the client’s existing serviceable pump into the new pump station, creating a dual-pump arrangement. This provides a backup pump in the event of a failure, reduces strain on individual pumps and improves the overall reliability of the system.

From outdated to modern and functional ✨🏡

Stage 1 we attended site to disconnect the existing kitchen, laundry and natural gas cooktop ready for the builder to carry out demolition and renovation works 🔧

During rough in, we relocated the water and gas points to suit the brand new layout and cabinetry design 🚰🔥

Once all renovation works were completed, we returned for final fit off including reinstalling the natural gas cooktop, installing the dishwasher and connecting the washing machine & dryer waste into the laundry sink P-trap 👌

Finished off with sleek smart sensor mixers for a clean modern touch and everyday convenience ⚡

🚨 GAS LEAK DETECTED & REPAIRED – DONCASTER 🚨

Customer reported a gas leak issue and after carrying out a full pressure test and investigation, we traced the fault back to a leaking section on the existing galvanised gas line.

Instead of replacing the entire line unnecessarily, we isolated the faulty section and carried out a precise repair to restore the gas service safely and efficiently 💪🔥
