A pool does not have to take over the garden. Designed early enough, it sits inside it.

Planting softens the edges, frames the water and gives you glimpses of it as you move through the space. It feels less like a pool in a backyard and more like water that has always been part of the landscape.

Every tile in a Feature Pool is set by hand. The curves are where you can tell.

A step nose or a radius wall is slow, careful work. Each tile has to follow the line without gaps opening up or edges catching the light the wrong way. When the water goes still, it is the first thing your eye finds.

After 40 years, it is still the part of the job we are proudest of.

Big day out in Mt Eliza. This is the excavation stage, where the pool really starts to take shape.

Last time we set the pool out against the plans from Plume Design, checking everything referenced back correctly before any soil moved. With that locked in, we got into the dig.

This is where the client first sees the shape of their pool. We're on site throughout, checking the dimensions and levels match the plans so there are no surprises down the track.

It's a one-day dig, then we're into the in-floor cleaning. Stick around and we'll take you through it.

Steel and plumbing stage in Mt Eliza, the last step before the concrete spray.

With the dig signed off, the steel fixers tie off all the reinforcement to the engineer's computations to give the shell its strength. The pool and spa plumbing goes in at the same time and gets pressure tested, so everything's sound before it's sealed under concrete. Get this right and the rest of the build follows.
