Roof type: Colorbond.
Age of the roof: 26 years.
Location: Black Rock VIC. Orientation: South-facing.
Condition: Heavily covered. Damage: the lichen has permanently damaged the protective coating of the Colorbond roof and you can see the yellow footprint left behind on in the last photo. This is way it’s important to remove the lichen as soon as you see it. You will also see the second story triangle roof section, we only did a single treatment as a test to compare doing two treatments on the lower level. You can see the lichen is almost gone but some remanence of the lichen is still present. So two treatments is best.
This was a challenging job that required a lot from a biocide treatment. Aside from the lichen growth on the roof that came off the roof within 12 months, we also had to contend with a south side, shaded by trees and one eucalyptus tree, which caused black mould to be present on the roof. Because this side of the roof was protected from the prevailing weather that would’ve naturally washed this away, so to achieve the desired results, all we had to do was to simply rinse off the dust, dirt, and dead black mould using a water-fed pole with a soft brush attachment.
