Tool theft is a significant and rising problem in Melbourne, with a
36.6% increase in the 12 months to March 2025, leading to a tool theft occurring approximately every two hours.

Thefts often occur from the back of work vans and on job sites, with criminals targeting unlocked vehicles and tools left visible.

To prevent theft, police and insurers like RACV recommend removing tools from vehicles overnight, using lockable toolboxes and security chains, marking tools with identification, and considering GPS trackers for high-value items.

Call out the trades that use 's**t' tool boxes on site that are are easily opened. They just provide the thieves with further tools to allow them to attempt to break into better tool boxes like a SITE SAFE.

Break-ins and thefts of work tools from vehicles is an ongoing issue for those working within a trade. Throughout 2019, almost 46,000 tools were stolen in Victoria with a total value of nearly $30.5 million.

Victoria Police and Crime Stoppers Victoria are urging tradies storing tools in their vehicles to protect their equipment by parking off street and in garages where possible. However, we recommend you store them in a Site Safe!

This week is typical Melbourne. Starting out sunny and then raining for days. But the Site Safe units are still lining up and going out at a steady rate.

It is good to see Melbourne's Construction Industry geting back to work.

Covid-19 Update.
Site Safe is operating under the stage 4 restrictions.

Construction, security and government supply will continue as normal based under Rental Hiring rule, where we are supplying permitted services or industries.

You will see some changes to deliveries and collection of Hire units, but the majority of changes are behind the scenes.

We are back after Christmes and in full swing.

Hire orders are coming in thick and fast. With the ring road in shambles, it is taking extra time for the trucks to move around Melbourne. Please be patient, we are getting there as fast as possible!
