What does all this rain mean for your Pool ?

With the consistent and at times heavy rain over the last few days, your pool has received it's fair share as well. This will have several impacts:

Fresh Water Dilution of water balancing chemicals;
Bringing Phosphates (algae food source) down from the atmosphere into your pool;
Dilution of Salt and/or minerals (if you have a salt/mineral chlorinated pool);
Potentially bringing in Dirt and Dust from Central Australia and North Western Victoria;
Run off from your garden to your pool especially if your pool is lower than the house and/or garden;

What Should I do ?

Delay adding salt/crystals and water balancing chemicals until the rain eases;
Get your Pool/Spa water tested once the rain band is over;
Balance your pool with the required chemicals and salt/crystals as per your water testing results.
Run your filter for an hour longer per day for a few days or in a worst case, run the filter for 24 hours continuously;

These simple steps can help you avoid algae growth and keep your Pool/Spa pristine and clear for the warmer months.

SPRING IS HERE !

Given the warm weather (finally!) this weekend and with algae sparking up when temperatures rise about 18 degrees, now is a great time to:

Test your water;
Balance your water;
Test and run your equipment;
Increase your filter run time to at least 6 hours per day

These simple steps should keep algae at bay and prepare your pool for the warmer months.
