Meet Lola, climbing arborist. Two weeks out of high school - working at a chemist and a pizza shop - she saw a job ad and thought, yeah, I want to climb trees for a living.

Applied, got a call from the boss a few hours later, three weeks after that she was on the tools. No arb experience, just a genuine love of being outdoors and a background in competitive rock climbing.

Four years on she's running harness work, rigging complex drops, just did her first crane pick. Two years on the ground learning rigging before she went up - that's the progression here, and it's real. "Safety doesn't slow you down. Arguing about it does."

Big Melbourne Storm fan (suffering this season), camping with the crew, and competing in tree climbing comps on the side - turns out the skills translate.

This ash hadn't seen any love in a while and it threw everything at Eddy - HV and LV lines, service wires, parked cars, pedestrians, the lot. Marty and Bless talked him through it, piece by piece, right through to last light. No classroom teaches you a tree like this one - you've just got to be up there doing it, with someone who's done it a hundred times standing below you.

Grapple saw up, crown coming down clean, piece by piece. Last light catching the cut. No rigging needed when the machine can reach it - just the right kit and someone who knows where to put it.
