This year marks 11 years of Symal supporting Fight Cancer Foundation’s Footy Colours Day. Over the past decade, together with the incredible support of our people, partners and communities, we’ve raised more than $980,000 for kids and families affected by cancer.

Now, we’re dusting off the BBQs, pulling on our colours and getting ready to go bigger than ever, with our biggest fundraising target yet: $220,000.

It’s a big goal. A very big goal. But if there’s one thing we know, it’s that when our people get behind a cause, they know how to show up.

She started as a labourer. Now she’s leading the team. 👷‍♀️

When Rachel Jones joined Symal, she already had a clear idea of where she wanted her career to go. She wanted to keep learning, take on new challenges and build something she could be proud of.

She’s made the most of every opportunity along the way, putting her hand up to learn new skills, gain experience across different projects and take on more responsibility. With the support of her team and leaders, that ambition has helped Rachel grow into her role as Team Leader on the Ballan Road Intersection Upgrade.

Rachel’s journey is the first instalment of Built here. Backed here., a new series celebrating the people who roll up their sleeves, challenge themselves and keep pushing their careers forward.

There’s no single path to success. Whether it’s building expertise in one area, exploring different projects or stepping into leadership, we want our people to have the opportunity to make their career their own. Innovation starts with a spark. Then curiosity and courage to build it. đź’ˇ

Symal was proud to present the Innovation Award at the 2026 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards NSW & ACT, celebrating young people turning bold ideas into real-world impact.

This year’s winner, Shankar Dutt, is doing exactly that. At the Australian National University, Shankar is developing AI-integrated nanopore biosensors for early disease detection and environmental monitoring. Groundbreaking work with real potential.

Congratulations to the outstanding finalists Annabel Zhou and Vivian Shen of Toastie, Alyssa Taranto of Please Find Your Seat, Ruby Riethmuller of Womn-Kind and Dr Koentadi Hadinoto.

From health and science to technology and entrepreneurship, each finalist demonstrated what can happen when curiosity meets purpose, turning ideas into solutions that make a difference.

At Symal, that’s what innovation means. Not just ideas. Results.

Building stronger, more resilient communities starts with collaboration.

Last week, our team attended the Disaster & Emergency Management Conference, connecting with clients, government representatives and industry partners to share how Symal is supporting disaster recovery and resilience projects across Australia.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Symal and Unyte stand to chat with Sasha Briner, Christian George, Darrin Hoddinott and David Sweeney. It was great to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships and discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of disaster recovery and emergency management.

As natural disasters become more frequent and recovery programs continue to evolve, working together has never been more important.

Backing the Blues in 2026 đź’™

The Newcastle City Blues 2026 campaign is already underway and we’re proud to be a major sponsor!

The Blues have been part of the Hunter for a long time. What’s kept it strong isn’t just results, but the people around it. Coaches, volunteers, players and families. The same faces turning up each week, putting in the hard yards and keeping the club moving.

That’s the part that stands out. We’re backing the places our people are already part of. The clubs they go to, the communities they’re connected to and the people who make them what they are.

There’s a shared way of doing things there. Showing up, looking after each other and building better together.

The Blues have started strongly across both men’s and women’s teams, building early momentum around the club, and we wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

What disaster recovery efforts remind us this ANZAC Day ❤️

Earlier this year, in the aftermath of the Longwood bushfires, we saw firsthand the role veterans continue to play when communities need it most.

Through Operation Veteran Assist, recovery efforts were already underway. Clearing access, repairing fencing and helping families take those first steps forward. Practical work, done with care, experience and a strong sense of purpose.

What felt like a simple contribution of a couple of trailers and some tools was met with genuine gratitude from the community. But the truth is, it left a bigger impression on us.

The uniforms might not be there, but the teamwork, the banter and that deep sense of service are still just as strong.

As ANZAC Day approaches, it’s a reminder that service doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off. It shows up in moments like these, in the way people step forward and support others when it matters most.

That belief sits at the heart of why we do what we do. Through our veteran engagement program, Resolve, we’re incredibly proud to stand alongside veterans, supporting their impact in communities and creating pathways beyond service.

While Melbourne slept, we delivered one of Australia's biggest crane lifts. 🏗️

One weekend. 100 metres long. 16 metres wide. 1,000+ tonnes in place.

The Bulleen team on the Eastern Freeway Upgrades: Burke to Tram Alliance transformed one of Melbourne's busiest corridors into a high-capacity construction platform over a single weekend closure.

A 35,000-tonne rock hardstand supported the operation, with 3,500 tonnes placed in the first 10 hours. In the lead-up, a further 32,000 tonnes was installed, creating the foundation for dual 800-tonne crawler cranes.

Rain hit, but the team kept moving. Adapting in real time, crews progressed piling, drainage, profiling, asphalting and ITS works across multiple fronts.

This milestone sets the benchmark for what's possible, delivering complex infrastructure at scale while maximising each closure and minimising disruption for the community.
