With the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup well underway, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the fans who have filled the stands throughout the pool stages so far, and those who have been tuning in from home. 🏑

Because hockey wouldn’t be anywhere without its community.

Watching this World Cup, we’re seeing the best hockey action the world has to offer, with players proudly representing their countries. But behind every player is a community of hockey people who make moments like this possible the coaches, umpires, volunteers, fundraisers, team managers and even those organising the junior team uniforms.

And every four years, the World Cup brings this global community together to celebrate the sport they love with friendship, colour, families, loud noise and big energy!

Cheers to the global hockey community! 👏

This weekend, the world’s best hockey players will take to Poligras at the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Hockey World Cup.

But you don’t have to be on the world stage to experience the difference what hockey facility does for a community.

In Molong, NSW, the club had an original hockey and multi-sport pitch, but with the devastating 2022 floods, it was completely destroyed. This severely impacted Molong and communities across the Central West region.

Together, Cabonne Council, Molong Hockey Club , the local sporting community and the NSW Government worked to rebuild and this time in a new location at the Molong Showground, safely away from the risk of future flooding.

Polytan is proud to deliver a brand new Poligras H2Oz GT sand dressed system, a favourite for hockey clubs. From site preparation and drainage through to the new pavement, shock pad and synthetic turf, the project brought together local contractors, Council and project partners to create a first-class sporting facility while working around the Showground’s caravan park and golf course.

And now, the most important part, hockey is back in Molong and the senior games have returned! 🏑 We’re delighted to see the new field bringing players, families and the wider community back together through the sport they love.

The FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium & Netherlands 2026 is ready to go.

Poligras is proud to be the Official Hockey Turf of the tournament, with Polytan installing the competition surfaces at Wagener Stadium in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Belfius Hockey Arena in Wavre, Belgium.

From 15 to 30 August, the world’s best teams will compete on hockey’s biggest stage. This tournament marks the 10th Hockey World Cup to be played on Poligras and another milestone in 50 years of shaping international hockey.

Since synthetic turf made its Olympic hockey debut in 1976, generations of the world’s best players have competed on surfaces our turfs. Fifty years later, that legacy continues at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026.

We love the World Cup – the stars, the skills, the thrills & the fans. We wish all the teams and players competing in Amsterdam and Wavre the very best of luck for the biggest and best tournament in hockey.

You can watch the Hockeyroos and the Kookaburras in action live and free on 7plus.

Strong communities are built through connection, and sport has a unique way of bringing people together.

Making sport accessible means creating more opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate. Hear from Paulo at Walking Football 4 Health Victoria Group as he shares his experience playing on the Polytan Arena Mini Pitch we installed as an activation at the National Sports & Physical Activity Convention and how flexible sporting spaces can help even more people get active and connected.

The Polytan Arena Mini Pitch is a compact, modular pitch designed for football and other sports, bringing the opportunity to play to almost any location. Whether installed at a school, community precinct, club or public event, it provides an inviting space where people can participate, socialise and experience the physical and social benefits of sport.

At Polytan, we're proud to help create sporting environments that encourage participation, support active lifestyles and make sport more accessible for everyone.

📍 Barwon Soccer Club, VIC

Polytan recently completed this new synthetic field featuring two junior pitches at Barwon Soccer Club, using our Australian-made Ligaturf HB250.

The line marking layout has been thoughtfully designed to distribute player traffic more evenly across the surface. With goals positioned on either side, the field provides two junior football pitches, creating a practical training configuration while helping reduce concentrated wear.

One of the biggest advantages of a dedicated synthetic training field is taking the training load off the natural grass pitch. It allows clubs to maximise participation, increase training capacity and help keep their natural match surface in top condition throughout the season.

This upgraded facility will support junior footballers as they develop their skills and passion for the game. Who knows? It might even help shape a future Socceroo or Matilda. ⚽💚

Last week at the Sports & Physical Activity Convention , we had the pleasure of hosting Walking Football 4 Health Victoria Group on our Polytan Arena Mini Pitch activation. ⚽️

The Walking Football 4 Health Victoria team does an incredible job engaging people of all ages and abilities, encouraging participation in low-impact football and showcasing the many benefits that sport provides, from improved fitness to creating meaningful social connections and a sense of community.

While they typically play in community facilities such as basketball stadiums, having access to a dedicated space like a Polytan Arena Mini Pitch opens up even more opportunities to get people active, connected and enjoying the game they love.

A huge thank you to Mick Trim the team for joining us and sharing their passion for making football accessible to everyone.

✅ Progress at the precinct ✅

The starter’s pistol has officially fired on the next stage of the Orange Regional Sporting Precinct, with works ready to commence on the new athletics zone.

To mark the milestone, we were joined by Mayor Tony Mileto, Deputy Mayor Tammy Greenhalgh, Cr Gerald Power, Member for Calare Andrew Gee, Orange Little Athletics representatives Geoff Childs and Brett Wallbank, Orange City Council Acting CEO Jen Sharp, young athletes from Orange Little Athletics, Orange City Council project staff and the Zauner Construction team.

The athletics zone will include a World Athletics Class 2 certified synthetic track and field facility, grandstand, change rooms, photo finish room and competition lighting, creating a first-class venue for local athletes, schools and major events.

This is another exciting step towards delivering one of the largest sporting infrastructure projects in regional NSW.
