With a heavy heart I'm sorry to inform everyone but on sat the 7th December in the early morning the workshop at Canterbury neighbourhood house was gutted by fire.
So unfortunately all Upholstery classes are going to be cancelled until we can find a new temporary home ( again ) until we rebuild.
The impact on the cente, staff and broader community is most upsetting, please be patient whilst they try and navigate this

I will be away from work for a little bit.

My mother, Cheryl Margaret Callaghan, passed away Saturday night at 10:45, surrounded by the best music and everything neat and in order.

Mum was diagnosed with cancer in early 2022, and was given 4 weeks to 4 months to live. But with the care of Cabrini Hospital, Dr. Gary Richardson, and the amazing person who left the generous $10 million donation, my mother actually turned into the $1,000,000 woman that we always knew she was. She went on a trial that showed a great response, and they believe it could be the way cancer is treated in the future. Thanks to her and a few brave others, in the last month it has become approved in Australia. She was very proud to be part of this.

She had mostly quality of life in the last few years and loved her garden right up until the day she went into hospital.

She was the most amazing mother, grandmother, and friend you could ever ask for. She taught me most of what is important to me now: empathy, kindness, saying no to injustice, and mad cooking skills. Oh, I could just go on forever, and I still couldn’t tell you enough of what a wonderful, good person she was.

I love you, Mum. Billy and I are going to miss you so much
