What a joy to share with the world the newest project for “The musical bench” is a piece that will exist in continuous dialogue with the grand piano. This space invites everyone to practice using this beautiful instrument. The bench was made with 100% repurposed timber, including red gum, from structural posts that came down when the fence was replaced. The original notches can be seen in the legs, where black resin filled them for best performance. This piece is also a love letter to the “piano project” with a wonderful educational and social mission, as well as that brings the most exquisite live music to the community in Brunswick. Want to acknowledge sources of inspiration: Charlotte Perriand (modern design legend), Miguel Arroyo (Venezuelan designer) and the music from Vaughan Williams, “The Lark Ascending”. Special thanks to for his collaboration and to for allowing me to use their workshop. Also big thanks to for their continuous support for so many creatives that can access a space to make. Hope this bench brings warmth and spirit to this space. As always, thanks to Georgie for being the best (and patient) client! 🙏💚

Humbled and grateful for the experience of having as best client/collaborator ever! All round legends they understand the value of story-telling and the care that we share for nature and people. These sitting benches also gave me the chance to do a full circle coming back to where was originally and deliver my last commission made from my studio to this generous place of music, magic and connection. Thanks to everyone who helped, from the source of the recycled timber to the management of the venue who are also part of these pictures! See you guys soon!

It’s been 7 years since I became part of and Norm became part of me. I saw the transformation from that space that today is thriving under the name of to the established, safe and friendly location in Coburg, where it’s been since 2017. I felt like I had to move on and let go… however I know that the lessons learnt will remain forever. I want to say thanks to such adorable community and hope to see more women and more q***r people doing great work and feeling welcomed in that great space! I left a few boards behind… alone with my moments of dance while sanding… or my disco music that sometimes was too cheese for some folks 😅😂😂😉 all best kudos to new management for starting the improvements with all heart and I’ll keep an eye on you to support you from the distance in this new chapter! .design thanks to you all! Students multi-res projects thanks best mentor/co-leader this semester. The projects aimed to explore communal activities and place activation in a sustainable envelope 💚 kudos to all students for developing a house on the first half and a multi-story building on the second half of the semester… all in 13 weeks! Just remembering this happy day in 2017 when we finished this historical reconstruction of a Song Dynasty ideal pavilion, we were very excited and our “client” a very supportive Buddhist Centre that paid for the timber… then told us that a branch from a nearby tree felt down crushing the pavilion… that was the most effective reminder of letting go… months of intellectual and physical work gone… and we gained the knowledge and the experience of this sophisticated ancient construction.

is not just an amazing place to go and listen to classical music live… it is also an enterprise that supports the . I feel humbled by being able to collaborate with them for the second time, designing and making this extension for them. Just listened to this as an audiobook.
The factual approach sometimes is hurtful, sometimes is hopeful… but what I hear is that we have never been under so many circumstances that allow massive changes.
We need to operate on many different levels:
1. Support most sustainable technologies / options whenever possible. Learn more about this.
2. Address people in positions of power and request more incentives to develop innovation in the clean energy sector.
3. Learn more about carbon tax and how this might be one of the best chances to promote effective economical changes.
4. Do not despair but bear in mind our responsibility… be proactive and laud having awkward conversations in a respectful way… more promoting solutions than criticising or being cynical about the problems.
5. Prepare for imminent crises related to climate change… it would be a matter of decades to start to see bigger problems related to this appearing everywhere… and unfortunately affecting, as always, the most disadvantage people first.
To finish this quick note… I have to say from my personal perspective that Gates truly believes that the world wants to be more like the US… and that this would bring more wellness to the people. I disagree with this vision of the world but I appreciate the data that somewhat supports this perception: growing economies are spending more resources to consume in more a similar ways to what happens in American economy. I hope we will spend more time and resources making peace with ourselves and with nature… I hope we will stop asking for more and, instead, start asking for better.
