Entracon Civil is proud to have contributed to the transformation of the former Elsternwick Park Golf Course into Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve. The $7.0M urban wetland and nature reserve was delivered in conjunction with Bayside City Council, Australian Government & Melbourne Water.

The project combines habitat restoration with critical flood infrastructure. The reserve still operates as a flood retarding basin for Elster Creek. A major constraint was the WAG (Westernport–Altona–Geelong) crude oil pipeline, which runs directly through the site, so excavation, levels and plant movements all had to be planned and controlled around it.

The new wetlands have increased stormwater storage capacity. They slow and treat flows before the water is reused for irrigation of the adjacent sports fields.

Strong progress at the Serpentine Pipehead Dam Remediation Project for Water Corporation, with major advances made across the embankment, foundation, and structural components of the works.

Highlights include:
- Bulk excavation of the main dam embankment – 6,000 m³
Foundation treatment shotcrete applied to the exposed rock foundation within the main embankment footprint and management of groundwater inflows from weathered residual soils.
- Demolition and excavation of the lower abutment down to rock foundation level for retaining wall foundation, including 235 m³ of granite bedrock. drill, blast and extraction.
- Embankment reconstruction works with the placement of the chimney filter at the concrete dam interface and Zone 1A, Zone 2A and 2B filter blankets.
- Retaining wall construction underway with slope-correction concrete works completed – approximately 150 m³; and 24 rock anchors drilled and installed, each extending 6 m into bedrock.

A great team effort in safely and efficiently delivering the next stage of this critical infrastructure upgrade. We’re looking forward to continued momentum as we progress through the remaining remediation works.

🚧 Project Update: Stubbs St Pump Station 2 Upgrade in Kensington Complete🚧

We’re pleased to share that the Stubbs St Pump Station 2 upgrade is complete, with major enhancements now operational.

A new Gross Pollutant Trap (GPT) and four high-capacity pumps have been installed, tripling the station’s drainage capacity to 1800 l/s. This increase significantly improves flood management capabilities in the area.

Our team utilized Entracon’s specialized in-house caisson excavation methodology, enabling the safe and precise installation of the GPT within a restricted work zone. 👷

This upgrade plays a crucial role in reducing flood risk and preventing litter from entering Moonee Ponds Creek, contributing to a cleaner, more resilient environment. 💦
