Heat pump uses technology similar to an air conditioner. It extracts heat from a source, such as the surrounding air and it then amplifies and transfers the heat to where it is needed. Because most of the heat is transferred rather than generated, heat pumps are far more efficient than conventional heating.

Pros:
-high energy efficiency
-minimal power consumption
-low maintenance
-affordable

Cons:
-reduced efficiency in cold weather
-noisy
-warm up time
-10 to 15 years lifespan

Have you been thinking about installing a skylight in your home? Skylights can offer a lot of fantastic benefits to your home but they can also come with a few implications you probably weren’t expecting. Take a look at the pros and cons of installing skylights:

Pros:
-exposure to natural light rather than artificial light
-increase ventilation and eliminates condensation
-great addition to any room, helps brighten up the space and makes it look much bigger than it is

Cons:
-heat gain and loss
-poor insulation
-moisture and leaking issues if not fitted correctly
-expensive to install

Achieve 7 stars energy rating by using the correct insulation. The most important factor you should consider when looking for the best insulation is the R-Value of the insulation product. For cooler climates such as Melbourne we recommend at least R6.0 for roof, R4.0 for ceiling, R2.5 for walls, R2.5 moisture resistant underneath floors for single storey and R4.0 acoustic insulation between floors of a double storey.
Also, don't forget to use reflective roof sarking and ventilation whirlybird.
